I love your "what did we do" board. I remember being absent and having to ask my teacher what did we do in class. I think its a great idea even for high school students too haha!

Really enjoyed this. I am a school psychologist but cannot find other psychologist channels so I watch teacher channels. I love how passionate you are. Wish all the teachers I worked with were as great as you! You are inspiring me to start my own channel (I have one for work but it is all the boring stuff). 😉

Thank you for the tour. I'm a 2nd year teacher of special education in a middle school and I am really struggling with how to keep all of my ELA and Science information organized for them. Thank you so much for the idea of labeling the folders with the lesson topic. I've been doing it by page number in their notebooks, but I was still having trouble with figuring out how to keep that clear for them to become more self-sufficient. Also your calendar and daily agenda ideas are absolutely what I've been missing for my students to become even more mindful of their time-productivity connection. The written information is good for them to see how each day builds and connects to the other and if they're absent or choose not to work that day, they can visually see what they are missing. Again, thank you for this tour! Best classroom tour I've found so far for middle school!

I'm so jealous of your big classroom! I have 32 desks crammed into a small space. I have a football themed room since I'm a Saints fanatic, despite being a girly girl. I'm also subscribed to Tina's videos, so I'm off to check out her tour. Thanks for sharing!

To solve your problem when you let the kids use the supplies under the desk and to make sure they don't take any is just use a sheet of paper and put their name and keep the pouches in a cabinet so when they return it to you you know who borrowed it and what items are in the pouch

@toocoolformiddleschoolblog

+Teakat They do, yes. Since they just have to turn them 90 degrees sometimes I have them switch their desk arrangement in the middle of lessons actually! Sometimes they just need to face forward and listen! ;)

@toocoolformiddleschoolblog
@toocoolformiddleschoolblog 8 жыл бұрын
+wchilcote Yeah, all of my classes just share the ones I have. They have to copy out their answers onto a separate piece of paper. My extras are all the district will ever buy, so when one gets really trashed I just swap it out with a new one :)
@wchilcote
@wchilcote 8 жыл бұрын
Ahhh, gotcha! I had my kids pay for the copy. We are using the money for next year to purchase more. I also upload each lesson on my website! So I told the kids they can print their own copy too.

I love your ideas for your classroom! I changed my seating arrangements today, and they all seemed so engaged! Thanks! I have a question about your data wall...I want to start a data wall based on their lexile but I'm given a range for example 735-855L how did you set up your data wall? Did you choose their lowest number, put it on the wall, and highlight them based on level? Do the kids know their lexile number? Is this helping them improve their lexile? How did you set your goal? Sorry for so many questions, I just really want to use one, but not sure how to go about it? I teach 6th grade ELA, too.
@toocoolformiddleschoolblog
@toocoolformiddleschoolblog 8 жыл бұрын
Yes, good questions, I had them take the SRI test a couple of weeks ago and it gave them their Lexile score. I highlighted them according to proficient, advanced, etc. We take it a total of 5 times a year and we are hoping to get within that 6th grade range by the end of the year. I switch this board out a lot though. Sometimes I just put test scores up there, or project scores. It's something my school requires! ;)

It's just a student who wants to help out a teacher during their elective period instead of taking a different elective. It's usually 7th or 8th graders at my school, and usually they could benefit from a little extra time to get homework done. So after she finishes little tasks for me she gets to work on homework.
