One needs to be aware that in Leonardo AI the output that you get is not only dependent on the prompt you use but also on the Models like Diffusion, Deliberate, Creative... You also have the ability to stylize the output with the sub-modeling Leonardo Style, Prompt Magic, and then there is also the various schedulers, of which there is a Leonardo scheduler. To also step up the look of the images you have the Image Prompt function which gives really fine details based on the images that you load into this area; which is also part of Prompt Magic; along with the Prompt and Negative Prompts one chooses. I've created some really impressive output, but it takes time to figure out what Models and related combinations will work best for particular prompt or for the style of art you are looking to generate.

Midjourney have mentioned in the past about a new UI but I feel like they want to get the model sorted with V6 and v7 first; 2 and 4 months from now respectively. For Leonardo, I wish their home page showed more new top images like Midjourney's home page does. Leonardo recently announced paid plans btw. Was that your Discord I heard in the background or mine? Hehe!

While I am disinterested in creating beautiful/handsome fantasy faces/portraits, I am singularly interested in further developing my own personal art by running my own, preexisting fine art images through an AI, perhaps Leonardo or Midjourney AI. So, would I be able to upload my own fine art images in Leonardo or Midjourney and allow it to give me permutations, variations, recombinants, elaborations, refinements, and/or improvements? This is my exclusive interest. IOW, not text to image but Image to Image. OK, you addressed my concern about whether or not I could train Leonardo using my own images, but I am still leaving my question to represent perhaps other folks' interest.

I didn't understood the full expectation you have on the results but the answer is Yes. However the changes it will make can be quite radical, since it will try first to extract meaning from you uploads. Since "meaning" is related to "how the machine understand the meaning from your image", the variations from it can be really disappointing, unless you have fine control over "how much I want my image to be altered". I don't really know how to ajust that, however I know it is possible, and it just takes a little bit of practice and studying through experimentations.

These tools open up a bundle of copyright issue, because derivatives are consider the original copyright owner. So without permission one opens up to a potential costly piece of AI art. Also many don't have a feature were to recreate the same image. That is to say if you set everything up the same way and regenerate you are more likely not to get he same version of image as the first time.

I appreciate this review I us mid journey and dislike discord. I use Dall-e 2 a lot because the interface is easier...I used CF spark when it came out but OMG lol multiple legs, eyes and badly cut off images... Once in a while I get a good section lol... I am going to try Leonardo I have nothing to lose. The more I try, the more I learn and the better my prompts become. I want to use my own photos. I am good with manipulating in photoshop but I want to elevate my own photographs... Thank you.. I appreciate you and what I learned here. I am inpsired

I am curious, how can I use an image of me to generate something, fantastical with my face on it, or someone else face from other photo? It is a lot more simpler to get that effect in midjourney but it is hardly explained or shown how to do in leonardo.

*just started experimenting with Leonardo a few days ago...pretty happy with the results so far would still like to see better resolution with the upscalers and download of images as jpg's as i'm accustomed to images being several megs apiece before downloading and the jpg's are a bit pixely when you zoom in on a specific region of the image...i'll admit this might just be an issue within the settings i'm currently using as i'm just learning how this program functions but other than that i do like what i've done and it's just one of many ai programs i'm currently using (those being Deep Ai, NightCafe' Ai and Dall E-2) from which i've generated over 10,000 images (seriously)*

To me the answer is get both. Then you can run the same prompts on each service and see which one you want to pursue.

Hey man can you tell me how these AI thing works? I got Invoke AI Installed on my computer, it works as some kind of a launcher that can load Stable diffusion models, now, the question I have for leonardo is, just what the heck is it? Is it a stable diffusion model? or is it a launcher like InvokeAI? are there any different in terms of output between Invoke and leonardo? or is it just different UI? I noticed leonardo is categorized as a Sampler, but what does that means? can I download the model leonardo uses as ckpt file and then load it in My InvokeAI? sorry for the questions man but pls help me out if you can

To be honest as an artist I'm not one to care about the UI or the options Leonardo has, A1111 has probably more of them anyway, I'm all about the output and so far Midjourney is in a class of it's own, the model Leonardo Diffusion is on the right track but not quite there yet.

What are you talking about? Automatic1111 is millions of miles beyond Midjourney. Midjourney is massively limited, overpriced, and has FAR fewer options. If you can run automatic1111, there is absolutely no reason to ever TOUCH Midjourney.

I would like to know whether Leonardo and Midjourney are just much better than Dall-e or just different again. I made some pictures in Dall-e and they are terrible compared to what you did when using midjourney. Just the abstract neon art picture you did was much better than when providing the same words in Dall-e. Why???

Amazing comparison! But I proved I can get some realistic images with Leonardo compared to the Midjourney level. It's all about how you construct your prompts. Both have their pros and cons overall. I just wished Midjourney had a better UI among other things they lacked on. You can create the best photo in the world, yet struggle with the most simple elements to date. Things will get better and better with A.I nonetheless...heck before summer hits, we'll become blown away.

No question Midjourney is ahead in terms of finesse and more aesthetically pleasing results. But I've so far been put off by the whole Discord thing, meanwhile I dove into Leonardo which is so easy to use, and gets great results, even if it takes a bit of trial and error. Leonardo also seems to be constantly refining and improving as the SD algorithm develops (I think its got a lot better since the is video dropped) I know MJ is constantly improving too. If Midjourney changed it up to a nice interface like Leonardo's, I'd flip right away, or, as you mentioned, use a combo of both.

I suscried to Midjourney as I wanted to generate some inages for work as an experiment. After 3 day I still havent received the right to use the software and I did not understand why. Customer Service was terrible and DISCORD is way to complicated. I wasted a whole day and finally asked for refund. I never got the chance to try it, apart form a previous experience from the times when it was free for a few experiments. I do not want to have the DISCORD experience ever again. Very frustrating! I am looking forward to try out Leonardo AI.

Really great video - very useful. Unfortunately the repetitive mix of jump transitions, push zooms, camera angles, overuse of “whoosh” SFX and flashes seem to be overkill - makes me dizzy. Couldn’t make it through the whole video.

Leo is now under paywall, 150 free credits (1 token minimum per gen -> 4-5) so Max 150 image, 5 cred per upscale, Only 1 Weird sheduler (leo shed) no steps ... It was good but since the update free tiers are quit bad ... !

150 free credits a day is fair, and the basic paid option is cheap. I will stick with the free mode for a while but will probably end up subscribing to basic Leonardo eventually.

I have been testing both and MJ5 sweeps the floor with Leonardo in all aspects. There is not a single image Leonardo could do better than MJ5. If you work hard enough, you CAN get Leonardo to look like MJ5, but not with people and not with wide aspectratios. Leonardo is still just a cut down version of A1111.

From what I can see Leonardo is not only free the pictures are generated in much higher quality mid journey you have to pay for it and the images are in lower quality.

Midjourney does have three concurrent jobs ... but it does buffer other jobs so they do get generated if you go past three. kinda obvious but that wasn't mentioned. Not sure why but that was kind of misleading. Unintentionally I am sure.

Comparing Midjourney with millions of created - and learned - images with Leonardo in it's infancy is pretty much useless comparison. As an alternative, AI technologies like Blue Willow will become more and more popular over time. Blue Willow, in my opinion, will be the one to take down MidJourney

Blue willow is very good at creating the prompt you described. The only problem is upscaling. It's really bad. Worse than cheap mobile ai art generator app.

@Retro Sphynx Blue willow will be surpassed because MidJ has already the quality there now they're working on filters so people can make NSFW fantasy characters or female models then they're adding in more described image generator blue willow just has image quality MidJ is going to surpass all Ai apps it will be no.1 ai generator it also had Upscale done and are adding higher resolution they're going to add 2000x2000 back and possibly reach to 16k

Midjourney makes awesome images but the UI sucks being limited in discord. Finding your image can be annoying. Leonardo is much more controllable. I do not mind more limited free trials but ones like mj d-id etc that give you one limited shot will never get money from me. I will reserve that for ones like Leonardo that let you play around for free.

Just getting into AI , I will say that Leonardo has major issues with hands in fact I'm yet to see a good hand and I've made hundreds of images. I'm assuming mid journey it's the same way to me it's unusable. I've never seen a perfect or good hand yet. Seems very usable for everything else except for where there's a hand exposed or grabbing something it looks ridiculous.

I've been using leo for a while now, and I can confirm that hands are a real pain. It's impossible to make perfect hands, even using negative promp, and sometimes you'll get something close to a good result, but if you look closely, there's always something wrong.

Felt like first 8 minute is a waste of time. Once the real comparison begins, the result is: MidJourney (80%) vs. Leonardo (20%). But definitely Leonardo is on the right track. By the time Leonardo reaches MJ ver-5 level, MJ will go much more advanced.. Let's see.

Leonardo deserves some attention. It is much more user friendly and has a bunch of options the haters haven't tried. The various upscale options are good at fixing many of the coherence problems that I run into with all AI programs. Often turning rubbish creations into wallpaper worthy images. It is easy to just say Midjourney is better and ignore the advantages of having more freedom with editing creations. At some point, MJ making a bunch of money while not being bothered to create a dedicated UI will allow other platforms to win more customers.

Trash , just adding more detailed prompts produce similar or better results than midjourney
