It's so funny how traditions live on. My Dad went on and on about aircraft carrier landings in Bancroft Hall..............he entered the Academy in 1949 & was class of "53. Altho the academy prepared him to safely land on an aircraft carrier, he served on minesweepers instead. GO NAVY - BEAT ARMY!

Katie Stanley Annapolis Naval Exchange. The army calls it the PX. Many years ago during graduation week anyone could go in and buy whatever you want. Everything was super quality and I would buy things like this. They stopped that practice though.

MACHINE NO this is how are young men and woman have fun while they're learning to be officers in the United States Navy. I love the Naval Academy my wife and I used to walk around the grounds many times each summer for about 25 years. Every Midshipmen that we met was absolutely respectful. Great memories .

No, it's how young men and women blow off steam and have fun in their free time on one day a year. It has been going on for decades, my dad did the same thing there in 1949. I assure you they are very well trained at the USNA, but there are certain annual traditions like this & climbing Herndon Monument that happen once a year. The rest of the time it's all strict military discipline.
