Welcome to this latest tour series! We've been looking forward to doing this trip to Ireland for quite some time especially after our fantastic Scotland NC 500 tour a few years ago. There's a reason it's called "The Emerald Isle" so we made sure we packed our Goretex Rukka gear. Sue had been to Northern Ireland many times and insisted it had rained every time! Without giving too much away - it was amazing! Not a drop of rain throughout the trip, brilliant Guinness, fantastic food and lovely friendly people.
It was too long for us to complete in one trip so we intend to do the second part next year. This episode takes us through The Brecon Beacons (brilliant stay at The White House Lounge, Sennybridge), and a pleasant 3 hr ferry crossing to Rosslare and my first authentic pint of Guinness.
We were disappointed to discover our Sat Navs wouldn't accept the Irish post codes (after a recent change) so thank goodness I had my quadlock and Calimoto app on my phone, it saved the day.
We had a slight change of itinerary on day 2 when Sue suggested we visit Blarney Castle (home of the Blarney Stone) so always up for a castle visit we went to check it all out and Sue couldn't resist getting up close and personal with The Stone!
A relatively short ride from the castle took us to our second stop at Kinsale for the official start of The Wild Atlantic Way. We'd only been in Ireland for a couple of days but were struck by the amazing quality of the food, the sea food chowder being exceptional wherever we went and it soon became Sue's "go to" starter. Usually on tour I have to spend time searching out the best bars and pubs for good ale, this time it was easy - superb Guinness everywhere!

I rode from Belfast South to Dublin in July, travelling on those same small ferries. I bet we were close as weather was pretty mixed during that month 👍 Well done. See you both next season 😁

Did the wild Atlantic way in July 2019 the opposite way to you started malin head down to kinsale, absolutely fantastic great weather, food and accommodation not too mention the Guinness would recommend to anyone 👍

Quick heads up to all the Bikers watching this, Rosslare like fish guard is the end of the line with little in the way of things to do. Everything there is purely functional. S your better served pushing through to Waterford city unless as the lads said your arriving or departing at an odd hour.

Drove😥 all round Ireland over 3 weeks this September. Dublin clockwise to Dublin. Followed most of the WAW. Stunning, more great scenery and roads every day. Only one day of bad weather on the Ring of Kerry. None if it was busy but the NW quarter, Shannon round to Malin and the "border" was deserted. Hopefully will be back.

I went to Ireland end of April and went to Blarney Castle. Very picturesque. We did some parts of the Wild Atlantic Way but did 3 passes; The Healy, Conor and Black Valley. Having dressed for Rain, (it was late April), we were blessed with warm sunshine for the whole week. Thank goodness I took an extra dry sack to put the discarded layers in. Looking forward to episode 2

I am always amazed to see tropical looking plants in the UK and Ireland. It must be the Atlantic Gulf Stream that keeps the temperature more moderate allowing them to grow. I’m guessing. For some reason when I visit England, I usually order Guinness at the pubs. I can buy it in a can or bottle back it Wyoming, but it’s not the same. I’m binge watching your Wild Way videos on a freezing rainy day. So time for coffee and a pastry and then on to Episode 2.😎👍❤️

@@midlifemotorcyclediaries its a lot heavier and taller than the 900. The seat is really comfortable. The quickshifter and gear change is better. Hill hold and shaft drive is good. It does have a lot more go than the 900. I prefer the display on the 900. Now it has had its 1st service and run in it is a lot better.

Excellent video guys, enjoyed seeing a part of the world I know well through your eyes! And the accommodation reviews will come in handy im sure. Hi Brian and Sue. Just watching this adventure again as I'm planning a similar trip at the end of June. Can I ask what was satnav signal like and is there any advise or extra tips you can give that maybe wasn't covered in your videos. Cheers Ady.😊🏍

Hi Ady - to be honest my sat nav was pretty useless 😳 for some reason the Garmin Navigator 4 didn’t recognise the post codes - apparently the Irish post code system changed a couple of years ago and my sat nav couldn’t cope 🤷‍♂️ luckily I used my I phone and Google maps 👍 worth checking that out. Apart from that the only advice I have is don’t rush - take your time, plenty of stops to really enjoy what is a fantastic trip - hope you have a blast! 😀👍

Carol and I again enjoyed watching, this the first leg of the trip. Its especially interesting to us as its something we would like to do ourselves. Top class edit and filming making that we can only aspire to. Brian may be right on the Guinness thing, I remember tasting a pint at the top of the Guinness museum in Dublin (Dublin where I paid for the most expensive round of drinks ever, I'm still scarred!) So is Guinness no longer the fall back position on this trip when there's no decent real ale? I'll need to tune into the next episode 🤣 Keep up the great work 👍
