Hey everyone, I'm back. Every single time I watch this, I think back to when I had just returned from the war in Vietnam. Geeez, life was so good ~ I had MADE IT! I came back from the worse place, including hell, that a human being could have been sent to. I had my '70 (but new) Plymouth Roadrunner, pistol grip 4-speed and 8 track banging in the dash. I love this song, I love Van Morrison but, more than all of it, I love the memory of how alive & happy I was to be home. GREAT memories!!!!!

Van Morrison is such an iconic great singer songwriter. I love this performance with Elvin Bishop's band better than any version of this song. Reni Slais and Mickey Thomas took the vocals to a whole different level.

Peace & Blessings,I think I was 6 going on 7 when MS was rocking, but man when I was old enough and my Grandparents allowed me to stay up late, MS was one of the highlights of being a 70's era kid. Notice the freedom of the artists, just the energy. I am a member of the Hip-Hop culture, but it was programs of this nature, and artists like Van Morrison who are the foundation of my music, my lyrics, my culture. I get emotional at the 4:26 when Van the Man says it's time for a change, I pray that the world hears his plea and we all recognize it is time for a change. This is soul music, nectar for the soul, I thank my Creator for allowing me to witness that era. This is eternal music !!!Peace,Kev X.

@@petersonlafollette3521 I absolutely love Van Morrison, fool. I also listened to over 1000 artists on Spotify alone in 2020. Discrediting all music made after 1989 shows the boomer generation's sheer ignorance and refusal to listen to anything other than their favorite oldies hits they have recycled for 40 years.

Someone asked me about this song the other day. This is probably the best live version out there on the web. The reason the song works is because the third verse is included that is not in the studio Album track (His Band and the Street Choir Album) therefore lengthening the song. Also most people think the song is A Major to D Major but the guitar and piano float a B minor chord over the D which makes the song richer and sweeter. Understanding that concept is what makes this type song. The background vocals are kind of cool also. The only drawback is Elvin Bishop overplaying and the piano parts are a little over the place.

Pt #2 ~ The REASON I mention Sally is because this GREAT Van Morrison song was on the radio back in late '70, early '71 and it always reminded me of her because she was an outstanding dancer (as was I, really) and we use to dance into the early morning hours at the Golden Sails down on 2nd St. and Pacific Coast Hwy, in Seal Beach, CA. Geeez, we had so much fun. You know I loved her dearly but always worried that I wouldn't be the provider she needed AND deserved. God Bless You, Sally!!

Kind, loving, forgiving, understanding, compassionate and lonely. She asked me to move in (April '71) but I couldn't ~ she lived 40 miles from LAX (where I worked). @no1vanfan ~ I have to agree with you but only after having watched this VID about 10,000 times in the last 3 weeks! Perhaps one of my all-time favorite recordings, by anyone, was Domino by Van. When I came back from Vietnam, at the end of '70, I soon fell in love with my 45 RPM "Domino" BUT I must admit that this '77 Midnight Special version of "Domino" is SO much fun. On my KZfaq "channel" it's one of my 12 favorites, out of 339 songs! And Van has 4 or 5 recordings in my favorites.

On this day in 1970 {December 27th} "Domino" by Van Morrison peaked at #9 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; it had entered the chart on November 8th and spent 12 weeks on the Top 100... It was track one of side one from his 1970 album, "His Band and the Street Choir", the album reached #32 on Billboard's Top 200 Albums chart... Two other songs from the album made the Top 100; "Blue Money" {#23} and "Call Me Up In Dreamland" {#95}... Mr. Morrison celebrated his 68th birthday four months ago on August 31st...

Van just re-arranged the tunes....I think largely the task of his lead sax guy, either JAck Shorer in ealry 70s, or PeeWee Ellis in in early 80s. GOing to listen to the tune now. Did The Dukes play any other Van tunes? Gotta say, I love his music as much as anyone's
