That was possibly the greatest jump I have ever seen in my life.

THE BEST FEMALE FIGURE SKATER OF ALL TIME... HANDS DOWN... AT LEAST IN THE TECHNICAL PART... ANYONE WHO WOULD ARGUE ARE MORONS. 26 YEARS LATER, AND STILL UNMATCHED. MY GOD, THE POWER, GUTS, AND FORCE OF THIS WOMAN IS TRULY UNBELIEVABLE.. TYPHOON MIDORI!!!

Superb height on the triple axle. First rate!

The very 1st triple axel by a woman in international competition. And one of her best.

she was so cute, jumping and waving to the crowd... Adorable!!! Such power in such a cute package!

Some skaters have Olympic gold medals and some skaters are legends. Midori's triple axel is better than most of today's male skaters--maybe the best, period. And she did a triple-triple, too!

GREATEST EVER TO PUT ON SKATES. My favorite figure skater of all time and BY FAR the most talented. She got shafted in Calgary and again in 1990, but it is so glad to see people still giving her the praise she deserves. And yes, the skaters today are so blah I rarely ever watch figure skating anymore. Thank goodness for KZfaq!

It's fascinating to compare this performance with how she delivered the same program at the world championships. This one had a strange little stumble and she had to leave out the triple loop- but this triple axel was much better .... maybe one of the best she ever did. What an amazing athlete.

what a height, 3A!!!
@schulz114 жыл бұрын
That is just an amazing triple axel. 5.8 here, at that time, for technical was ludicrous.

Wow, it almost looks like she could have done a quad axle! I remember at the worlds in 89, she actually over rotated the triple axle, which is mind-boggling.

I haven't seen a single skater EVER get the height she does on jumps. You'd think by now someone would have matched her, but no!

even lysacek couldn't jump like her.

@AWfan52525 I read that she tried a quad a few years before this and broke her ankle, and didn't want to risk it again. Let's face it, at the time she was SO ahead of her league anyway that a quad was totally unnecessary. No other woman at the time could even do all five triples, let alone all six.

Matthew C did she try quad axel?
@lutz8413 жыл бұрын
it's amazing ... a few cross cuts and she gets SO MUCH speed and that height of the lutz ... she had to delay the revolution to not over rotate!

Men's skaters today - notably Lambiel - would surely kill to get that 3A. hahaha
@ncsapianist16 жыл бұрын
We need more upper body development in todays Ladies. Midori and Tonya had killer shoulders and biceps for that extra lift and rotation.

@kwadruple If you say so .... I don't agree ... Her toe jump were technically wrong! Not only th flip and tha toe loop but the lutz too ...

@kev7978 Are you kidding? Lysacek couldn't hold a candle to those jumps. A lot of people can't. Most Skaters can't. She's a wonderful jumper, but she lacks a little artistically. She's really a joy to watch preform.

Her edge jumps are amazing but yea her toe jumps needed work and I'm pretty sure it was the coach fault. Ito's jumping prowess is amazing and if she was taught the proper technique to toe jumps who knows what she was capable of. The first Toe loop seemed like a full blade but the second one was toe assisted.
@jondavwal132 жыл бұрын
You’re wrong. As a skater here her toe jumps might be the only technically perfect ones done by a woman.
@infinera0613 жыл бұрын
@thomstephens Aside from her jumps, she skates like a novice without any grace at all.
