Personally the Sonata Hybid for me is the better deal. That sweet sweet warranty and quiter interior along with more creature comfort and tech at a better price. Also when comparing powertrain the Accord being a hybrid should be compared to a hybrid!

Here in Canada basic Accord non hybrid is $40000 & Sonata with SO MUCH More equipment including Leather ,Panorama Roof ,Ventilated seats & AWD is $36000 & lots more I haven't mentioned. For a low mileage driver like me the Sonata wins hands down especially with 5 Vs 3 Year warranty. I haven't even mentioned the styling but that Accord doesn't even appeal to me & I'm 77 : ) ! I've had my Genesis 3.8 Sedan for 6 years & it's the best car I've ever owned but it was $50000 in 2016 & a new 2.5 is $70000 now so I'm seriously considering the AWD Sonata for 1/2 that price.

I've owned the original Genesis 3.8 sedan for 15 years now, and still going strong. I would still love to drive a new midlevel 4-cylinder Genesis G80. That said a Sonata Hybrid would be a better fit for my budget and driving. I would pick most Hyundai-Kia offerings without hesitation (except for the garbage 2011-2019 Sonatas assembled in Alabama). I also like Honda a lot too - I used to own a 2002 Accord as well - but after Honda discontinued the manual option on all Accords, I lost my appetite.

Just ordered a 2024 Sonata. In canada we only have 2 trim levels this year. Preferred and N-Line. Preferred has now everything... Heated and ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, leather* interior, etc. Option of the AWD on the preferred. Ordered a preferred with AWD. After comparing with Camry and Accord, Sonata was the most equiped. And 6k cheaper at 37k vs 43k. Only aspect is reliability, but even Toyota and Honda has had problems recently. With the warranty of Hyundai and honestly the good customer service I have had for past Hyundai vehicles, I am confident. Pretty happy with the purchase.

The big no-no of the Sonata is having a DCT. Their lifetime expectancy is around 80K to 100K miles. As hated as they are, CVTs (eCVT in the case of the Accord) excluding those old Jatco ones Nissan used to put in their cars, have proven to be very reliable and durable. Having said that, the Sonata does have more features for the price, but if you want to keep a car for a long time, Toyota/Honda is the way to go. Hyundai and Kia are good too if you choose a CVT or traditional automatic.

Let me point out a few things for you guys. In this segment of vehicles, not counting the luxury brands or super expensive sports vehicles. It was Hyundai that first offered a customizable digital gauge cluster, it was Hyundai who started those seamless air vents that go across the dash, it was Hyundai who started putting safety features across all trims, it was Hyundai who started implementing big screens. It was Hyundai who started offering a more luxurious cabin at these price points. It was the Kia Optima that Honda copied the fastback design with the Accord....which happens to be a Hyundai product. Anyways go ahead and finish your comparison

@@user-zc1dx5dv5u and you say that for which reasons? I can name a bunch of things that make the Hyundai Sonata better overall. I can only think of one thing, possibly 2 depending on trim that is better with the Accord. The only thing I can think for the Accord is resale value. I guess the sport version handles better than the Sonata SEL, but for just about the same price you can get a Sonata N-Line, which solves that problem. Don't get me wrong, Honda changed the game many, many years ago pushing manufacturers to step up reliability......but it's Hyundai who has just completely changed the game everywhere else for the last 8 years. I'm not trying to convince you to switch, 3 years ago I was laughing at Honda, Toyota and the rest owners. While we were driving around with all these advanced features , you guys weren't, and you all probably paid more. Only thing I try pointing out to other manufacturer fanboys, is that Hyundai been had those features you guys get excited about, it was Hyundai who forced who's brand you guys like in to stepping up to catch up. And the fact you all should be thanking Hyundai for pushing your brand to offer those far better amenities for the over price you all pay. Does the Accord even offer a panoramic roof yet? The Sonata had that back in 2012

@@user-zc1dx5dv5u you can say which specific parts are better and safer but you can't say which car is better since both brands benefit from certain and different things. Not everything is better because it's a Honda. Not everything is shitty because it's a Hyundai. Also, a lot of the fires were caused by the techs not doing their jobs properly. I have a 2023 Sonata Limited and really like it. The 360 camera and the blind spot cameras are the best I have seen on any car. I understand that the 2024 Sonata Limited only comes with a hybrid and a 6 speed transmission giving it the same mileage as the Accord. With the 1.6L Turbo, I am getting about 30 MPG around town and 40 MPG on the Highway. One of the roads I often take is very curvey and is fun to drive in my Sonata. Also, the dealer experience has been good. I took it to the dealer for annual maintenance that was free and they even washed the car before returning it to me. I have driven Lexus ES350 and Acura TL for many years but feel more comfortable in my Sonata,

There’s one very important thing you didn’t mention on the Sonata that makes me pick it over the Accord. The trunk hinges are covered and it has an auto trunk closer. You typically have to step up to higher end brands to get those features. It could be the covered hinges that reduce trunk capacity but you’ll know the trunk will close. With the regular intrusive hinges you’re more likely to pack the trunk than not be able to close the trunk. Just a little minor convenience that goes a long way!

Reliability is very difficult to quantify. Any massed produced product such as a car can have failures that are minor or major no matter what their reliability rating is. Any defect can be addressed for free as long as the car is in warrantee. The Sonata warrantee is almost twice that of the Accord.

I think Honda's position was to simplify the design across this lineup because it's going in a completely different direction for design. I think in the coming years I think we'll see. This design begin to take more shape. I don't think it looks like a Camry at all, but I do think it looks like a two generations old Chevy Impala, but they improved upon that Chevy Impala design. It's cleaner and it looks better in my opinion

Now that the new refresh Sonata offers AWD and styling looks like a 2024 car, rather than the Accord inspired long and boaty 2009 Ford Taurus styling, the Sonata is the one to buy, imo. It’s 2024 and Honda still can’t put a panoramic roof in the Accord? The new Sonata checks all the boxes for me. I will be satisfied getting this SEL trim. It has better value in features than the Accord Sport trim and costs less! The new Accord is officially for over the hill Gen X-ers and Baby Boomers buyers. I saw a senior citizen stepping out one the other day, and I just can’t unsee the whole AARP vibe the car gives! 😂🤣😂

Honda has GOT to get with the times!!! They’re charging more money for less features?!?! The Hyundai gives you: -Panoramic Sun Roof -Heated Front Seats -Larger Digital Speedometer -Wireless Charging -Wireless CarPlay/AA -USB Ports in the Rear -Clearer Backup Camera -Auto Dimming Mirror -Head Side Mirrors -Better Warranty ALL FOR LESS MONEY!!! Unless the Hyundais design is the only reason stopping you from buying this over the Accord, it’s obviously the clear winner.

This accord was such a letdown, was hoping for way more of a sporty feel. I really love the look of the Sonata and the fact that you can still get a fast sporty sedan without having to go up to the 40+ thousand dollar range. That being said the new Camry, I think looks awesome as well and the xse model has all the bells and whistles. I want heated steering wheel, panoramic, sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, all-wheel-drive, and it’s 30 hp faster than the accord etc. But I may need to take a look at this sonata And test drive it since they’re out at dealerships now. I feel as though I’m gonna be let down because interest rates are still high and they’ll probably want luxury car payments for a sub $40,000 car. I have a 2020 sport accord 2 L turbo so I don’t need a car it’s more of a want lol.

Sonata has been better looking, a better value, stonger engine and more high-tech than the accord since 2011. People who talk that "Hondas are reliable" talk, are living in the past. Not saying they arent reliable, and not saying i wouldnt take this accord over my 2016 Azera. Just saying, head to head, Hyundai has been silently destroying Hondas. Lets not even talk about Genesis vs Acura. That isnt even close to competitive. Genesis is on the heals of Mercedes and BMW.

You can find one of my cars for a steal. I got pops and gurgles from the exhaust and when v-tech kicks in with a short ram intake, it sounds like a race car. The new Accord is so ugly, I would never buy one. Plus hate the hybrid-only mandate on high trim levels. No interest in that. Sonata wins on styling and tech and bang for the buck. And N-Line performance option. That's what I would buy if I did not already own a five year old previous generation Accord Touring 2.0T, which I will keep for at least another five years since it is way better than both of those cars and cost a LOT less. Honda blew it bigtime with this latest Accord redesign, which looks cheap, is underpowered and overpriced.

Great review! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Nice showing the side by side. Thank you. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 I will go for the Sonata as well, however here in the US we only have the N-Line and the Hybrid Limited. I’m driving my 5th Sonata Limited now. Saw my first one (2010-2011) on the Super Bowl commercial and that was after I had just gotten a new 2009 Accord EXL - my 5th also. When I saw the Sonata on the commercial I knew I had to have it so sold my brand new Accord to my sister and it’s been every Sonata Limiteds since then. I haven’t had any issues with my Limiteds except the 2013 which had an issue with the gas mileage not getting even close to what it should. Brought it in several times and was told the diagnostics were reading correctly so told them I wanted out. They sold me a 2013 Sonata Hybrid for a tiny, tiny amount more. It worked like a charm. However, (I know, foolish), I missed the panoramic sunroof so turned the Hybrid in for the Limited with panoramic sunroof. So now here I am with my fifth one. Sonata offers much more than the Accord for a lot less $$$. So desperately waiting for this 2024. There are a few things I don’t like about it though - one, if you live in NE or a cold state the gloves have to come off to use the heat and fan as it is all touch control except the temperature and the fingerprints will drive me crazy. Will keep microfiber cloths in the car as I now keep a duster in my car always. Also don’t like the Hybrid only comes in 17 inch wheels - I prefer the 18 inch I have now. I will have to see if they can switch to the 18 inch. So if this all sounds negative, it really is not. I went from being a die hard Honda owner to a die hard Hyundai owner and won’t be turning back. Hoping to get the 2024 in the next couple of weeks. I’m thinking they may introduce the 2024 during this upcoming Super Bowl. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼 Between me, my mom, my son and my Aunt, we’ve gotten 13 Hyundais from the same dealer. Sorry so long…🥺

HONDA HEADACHES: 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤦‍♂ Brake and Rearview Camera Defects Honda recently issued recalls for various models due to brake and rearview camera defects. These recalls address potential safety hazards that can result in accidents and injuries. Unexpected Loss of Brake Function: Honda recalled over 124,000 Civic, Passport, and Pilot vehicles, including certain model year 2020-2021 Civic, 2020-2023 Ridgeline, 2021-2023 Passport, 2021-2022 Pilot, and 2020 Acura MDX vehicles. The recall was prompted by concerns that the vehicles could experience an unexpected loss of brake function, increasing the risk of a crash. Defective Brake Holds: Another recall impacted nearly 400 model year 2023 Civic, Accord, Acura RDX, and Acura Integra vehicles. These vehicles were manufactured with defective brake holds, leading to potential movement while the brake hold is activated. Honda plans to notify impacted vehicle owners by mail, starting from July 24. Rearview Camera Concerns: Honda recalled over 1.1 million Odyssey, Pilot, and Passport vehicles due to defective rearview cameras that may not display properly. This recall applies to model year 2018-2023 Honda Odyssey, 2019-2022 Honda Pilot, and 2019-2023 Honda Passport vehicles. A non-functional rearview camera can compromise the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Class Action Lawsuits against Honda In addition to the recalls, Honda is facing class action lawsuits that allege serious defects in its vehicles' components. Variable Timing Control Actuator Defect: A class action lawsuit filed against Honda claims that the automaker knowingly sold vehicles with defective variable timing control actuators. The alleged defect, affecting model year 2012-2014 CR-Vs, 2012 Accords, and 2012-2015 Crosstours, can lead to catastrophic engine failure and poses a safety hazard. Defective Electric Power Steering Systems: Two separate class action lawsuits were filed against Honda, asserting that model year 2022-2023 Honda Civic vehicles were manufactured with defective electric power steering systems. These systems may "stick," requiring an increase in steering effort, leading to overcorrections and potential collisions. Electric Braking System Sticking: Another class action lawsuit argues that Honda sold model year 2022-2023 Honda Civic vehicles with electric braking systems that can stick at highway speeds. This alleged defect can cause vehicle owners to overcorrect, increasing the risk of collisions. THERE IS YOUR HONDA LONG TERM OWNERSHIP. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

After having driven the Accord, I'm happy to report that the blend of sportiness and mainstream comfort is still present. It seems that Honda at lesst kept the suspension engineering department in check. The 2.0L Hybrid powertrain seems a little more polished than the Toyota system, and it does feel a notch faster than the 1.5L. All of that said, once you start poking around the car, some cost cutting reveals itself. The interior feels cheaper and more hollow than the 18-22, as does certain exterior attributes like the unpainted plastic vs gloss on the bumpers. The front lighting also is a downgrade over the previous generation. And with the demise of the 2.0T, Honda lost it's WOW factor from an enthusiast's standpoint. Time will tell if the 24 Sonata makes its intended splash(I actually love the bold styling), but with Hyundai still finding a way to keep the N-Line in a world where BOTH the excellent Toyota 3.5 V6 and Honda 2.0T are no longer available and venture into mixing sport, upmarket elements on the Limited, hybridized power, all the while keeping the value-driven conception alive is admireable. One thing to keep in mind with the Honda: It will retain stellar resale values, so even with the higher MSRP, you'll likely recoup that and more upon resale.

FIND THIS INTERESTING TOO. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

It would be an easy answer if the Accord still had the 10 speed with the 2.0T. I don't know what to do!
