I had exactly this problem with my 16 year old Miele dishwasher. Two local appliance engineers wouldn't touch it. I got the spares online and fixed it myself in about 20 minutes. Brilliant!!

Scott you are a life saver! Miele wanted to charge 150£ just for a call out, but this video saved me from paying to those money grabbing bustards. I have different model but actually all the insides and fixing is the same. I had a small particle of plate stuck in circulation pump. Took me 2 hours with watching video and unhooking pipes etc but we'll worth it. F78 error solved on my Miele G6620 Next time it will be 30 min max fix.

Scott. Thank you so much for this video!! Was about to throw away my 15yo meile until came across your channel. I was getting low pressure through the spray arms but no error code. There was broken glass caught in the impeller. I didn't need to replace anything so this fix didn't cost me anything. Thank you so much!!

After obderving the advice in your varius videos, I identified the leak in the circulation pump and orderd a partition kit as you sugested from miele a 97 Euro. Now the device performs better than before ( I can never thank you enouph for the impression I made to the wife and her girlfriends) Take Care!

Absolutely brilliant !. Have a Miele G651 SC PLUS, with more or less the same internals as yours. After viewing many of your videos I managed to troubleshoot to a leaky impeller pump seal, which I plan to replace with sicaflex silicon sealant tomorrow. Thanks a million !

So I spent over 4 hours tonight working on it. Going the dishwasher pulled on and the bottom off, and removed the circulation pump. It looks different than the ones in Scott's video. But there was nothing stuck inside of it, or any of the connecting pipes, and nothing in the pressure switch. So I took my time to put everything back together and was going to run it again, and now there is a water leak into the overflow plan as soon as it starts to fill with water. So would have to pull it back out to find the cause of the leak. If I can't get it to stop leaking, and if it still makes the grinding sound, I'd end up just replacing the entire Dishwasher with a new one than spend $700 for a new pump & motor.

Great video Scott - I know the F79 fault is not necessarily a pump fault, but more a communication issue between that and the pcb. Gut feeling (from an appliance engineer to a heating engineer) - is it worth digging around or am I potentially going to spend our more on a 9 year old machine than makes sense.

Tonight the unit ran for about an hour and then would start/stop for a few minutes, and drain all the water, then all the LEDs would flash. I went into the service codes and it showed an F14 which is the Heater Pressure Switch. So I'm not sure if that by itself is the problem, or also the circulation pump due to the loud noise when running.

Hi all, so I repaired the leak between the circulation pump impeller and motor but when I reassembled the actual electric motor I was unsure which end of the rotor shaft the metal washer and metal spring washer went on. Now when using the dishwasher, the motor is noisier than it was before. Could it be the washer in the wrong side of the motor shaft or is my impeller possibly on too tight? I'd like to have a diagram for the Miele inspira series mpeh 60-62/2 6770512 motor itself and NOT a diagram of the circulation pump assembly since I need to determine how to exactly reassemble the electric motor. Any help much appreciated.

Hi Scott, I watched your video on replacement the partition washer between circulation pump and motor in Miele dishwasher. I have Miele model 4225 and the pump assembly MPEH 00-62/2. I contacted Miele technical services and part department, needless to say they were not helpful. Where can I get the repair kit. Thanks, Michael

Thank you for your excellent videos. I have an G 892 SCU Plus, and I think I have a circulation motor problem. It stops with in 10 seconds after filling and then it tries to start circulating, then just stops. How did you know the motor was a problem versus the capacitor. I saw your video on the circulation capacitor. I think that may be my problem. I don't know if I have an F14 error since my Miele doesn't have a digital display. It stops with the Rinse and hold light on and the start/stop light blinking.

Can you access the impeller with a fork? It might be stuck and needs a twist.

Yes, I tried spinning the impeller back and forth with a fork. It to rotate fine.

Scott, I love the video on clearing the F14 error by pulling the shrapnel out of the circulation pump.. By any chance could you upload a video doing the same circulation pump dissassembly on a miele pump no 7805380, which is the pump for a miele G5715 dishwasher I got a F78 error and Ive tried everything else,, but I've got a funny feeling that it is a bearing in the motor itself because it isnt spinning very freely, like the one in your video is.

That totally sounds like a bad sticky bearing.

I totally agree actually :)... I worked out how to get the motor and pump apart.. strangely its a sort of permanent magnet inrunner type arrangement with the internal rotor sealed inside a plastic shell inside the stator on the outside. Quite funny!!! ... anyway I worked out how to get it apart safely and non-destructively.. and yes the back bearing runs pretty freely, front bearing is pretty stiff so that is where Ill start.. I havent worked out how to get the impellor off, which I have to do first. But it has two little holes in the front of it which looks like it is made for some kind of a custom tool which I reckon I can make.. I suspect that it will be a left thread?? The motor is a 7805380 on a pump which is for a G5715 miele dishwasher.. But the pump looks different to all the ones in your videos... Scott, I very much appreciate your videos and your effort.. I will more than happily make you a donation if it works. You will have saved my the cost of miele genuine part which is $600+ Aussie dollars

Incidently, how much power do these motors pull?.. I wouldnt have thought that the motor would really struggle to overcome the small amount of friction on the front bearing so the motor is obviously only low power ??100W or something small??

Very helpful video, thanks. I found the rotor to be not really jammed so I cleaned the rust up and reassembled it but the motor still makes no noise at all, and as soon as it is called into action (after the other pump has emptied the water and the water has been coming in for a short while) the red light blinks on my G 680 SC as before. Is there any other possible reason for this (fuse? overload switch? etc.) or does this mean the motor needs replacing?

You might try calling Miele USA and asking them to send you a new motor capacitor.

Hi! I love your videos! So I vacuumed the water out last week, before discovering your videos. I did the fork just now but the dishwasher isn't going on at all. No sounds. Last week, it had filled with water and then it stopped and the Intake/Drain and Rince Aid light came on. They're both on now and blinking. Any suggestions for this? It wasn't run for 2 years before this due to a tenant that I had in here.

I wonder how high the water is coming up in relation to the white plastic filter handle. It should fill enough to where it just touches the bottom of the handle.

Thank you so much for getting back with me. I believe the water was at a normal level. I vacuumed it out and then checked for any blockage. The dishwasher had stopped half way through and the blinking red light turned on. Now the dishwasher won't turn on at all. That's when I found your videos. The "Intake/Drain" is still blinking red and the "Rinse aid" light is solid red. Should I maybe try the fork turn again?

Great video Scott....!!!! Thank you. I was able to remove the motor and retrieve a piece of glass from the impeller of the circulation pump just by following your easy step-by-step instructions. The dishwasher still has a problem though. It is an older G 692 SC PLUS 3 model (16 years old). I wonder if you have any suggestions regarding the problem it had to begin with, or if you think the machine might have run its final race?? On any cycle, it starts off perfectly by first draining the sump, then it takes in approx. 6 liters of clean water and then the circulation motor kicks in perfectly and the initial rinse begins. The water seems to be circulating as well as it ever has. Everything seems to be perfectly normal up to this stage. HOWEVER after about 10 seconds, it stops and pauses for approx 10 seconds. The pump then kicks in again and the initial rinse continues for another 10 seconds, then pauses again for approx 10 seconds again. This happens about a dozen times, after which the machine come to a stop and the red Inlet/Outlet light starts blinking. If it does complete a cycle, it doesn't always heat up the water on the wash, not the final rinse cycle. I have tried everything I have found on this subject and am starting to wonder if the electronic circuit board has packed up. Any suggestions would be much appreciated and also if Miele has a factory reset procedure for the inbuilt software? Thanks in advance, Vic Schroeder

If the heater relay was faulty, how would that cause the dishwasher to stop and start continuously while still in the initial COLD water rinse cycle, or does the software actually detect that the relay is faulty even before the coil is energized to heat the water up in the upcoming wash cycle? @@vicsch8162 Hi Vic I read your above posting and my Miele 841 Plus dishwasher is behaving the same way. My machine gives me an error of F08 - Water intake failure, heater level switch. My machine also drains, fills, and then does the multiple on/off on the rinse cycle before throwing the red Intake/Drain Light. Were you able to find a fix for this issue. A couple of years ago I was having issues and I did the partition kit when Scott recommend it and that fixed the issues I was having back then, I also did the motor capacitor at the same time just to be sure. The washer was back on line. In the last few months the Intake/Drain Light issues started again. At one point Scott suggested that the water intake solenoids valves might be an issue and they should be replaced as they might be impeding water intake. When I checked the water intake it was severely clogged with rubber from the washer and after clearing this out the dishwasher ran as normal for a few more months. Now it’s back to the issues above. The water intake is clear so now I am wondering if it is heater related issues. I see Scott suggested that the heater relay might be an issue for your situation and I was wondering if you replaced it and did it fix your problem? Thanks for any help in advance. Mike

Scott help please! Just put a new circulation pump partition kit in. Not nearly enough end play and the impeller barely turns when assembled. All was completely sanitary on assembly. Now I need to disassemble and figure out how to set the end play. Does the impeller free wheel when spun by hand several times or does correct play make it very snug? It seems on mine the threaded bushing is not at the correct depth in the impeller, causing too much contact with the housing seal. How much resistance to rotation is normal?

Scott, I called Miele today and they said they do not sell the Partition Kit separately for my G2143 and would have to buy the entire motor pump 06770517 at $629. Have you heard of this before? The heater pressure switch is only $70.

Hi Scott - thanks for the video. I may have a later model as there was nowhere to insert a screwdriver to prevent rotation while removing the impeller. I tried to unscrew a section next to it to get in through the side, but what looks like a flow distributor (skeleton cylinder with a cog and two pop-out window tabs) came off and I can’t tell how to reinsert it. Any ideas?

Hi Michael, Unfortunately that model does not allow you to rotate the circulation pump impeller.

@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Right - makes sense. Any idea how to replace the flow distributor with two window tabs that came out? The orientation and placement of the cogs is not obvious prior to reassembly. I did clean the impeller though. Now I can't reassemble.

It strikes me that although sMiele pare parts are expensive, their dishwashers are much easier to service than those from Bosch/Siemens!

Hi Benny, you'll need to contact Miele USA since they are the only ones that distribute their own parts and order a new slide shutter for the circulation pump because it has seized up / failed for one reason or another.

I have an old Miele dishwasher g2170. It’s pouring water I believe out of the circulation motor and it’s making monstrous noises that has my dogs barking. Do you think The Whole pump needs to be replaced or does it just need some maintenance Iike you did? I’m trying to save money. The pump is about 800 and then what’s the point mine as well get a new machine. I bought it in about 2006. Update: Called Miele, they do not have a partition kit. I can’t seem to find one anywhere. The circulation pump is now part number 12133930 and it’s 579.46. Do you know anyone who would carry the kit? I think I’m going to go ahead a check to see if there is something obstructing the impaler (have nothing to lose) but if I need to change the seals, not sure what to get.

I bet there’s just something caught in the pump that makes that noise. Can you call Miele USA and ask for a new partition pump kit? That should cure the leak.

@@ScottTheFixItGuyChannel Hi Scott , I took out the circulation pump and there was a spike from the bottom basket in it. That helped with the loud noise. It’s still pouring water out of somewhere during the full wash. There’s is no clog coming in and I can hear it drain. There is a mechanical sound during the whole wash. Im not getting error lights now and it is going through the whole wash. But It’s it’s pouring water. Do you think I should just toss it and try and get a new machine or is there anyway for me to figure this out? Im lost. Sry

I have the G1383SCVi which is slightly different and unfortunately Miele doesn't sell the housing, only the complete unit for 400eur!!!. In mine the only problem is the pump impeller that the two halfs have separated...

Last year I did your Solenoid Replacement on my Miele, and has worked fine, but now have a new problem. Last night, I noticed that when the unit is running (circulating the water) there was a loud sound that I NEVER HEARD BEFORE (no error codes). I checked everything, the basket that you pull out, the non-return valve that has the metal ball in it, the impeller motor under it, and the circulation by sticking a fork in there, but the sound was still there. I opened up the small service panel located in the front of the unit (where the toe-kick is) and teh sound is coming from something in there. I am unsure if it could be either the circulation pump and/or motor? I was going to run the Miele DW Cleaner (but had to order it) and see if that would do anything, but probably not. I will try and post a video later so you can hear the sound. It's very loud, and I've never heard this before in the 8 years that I've owned the unit. If it is the Circulation pump or Motor, I guess the best thing to do would be to contact Miele (since it has to be ordered from there, not sure of the cost) and try to install it myself before having the expense of their repair tech.
