When you add drop tanks/ordinance that sticks out in front of the wing, it moves the center of pressure forward which has the same effect as moving the CG rearward. My Freewing 80mm A-4 Skyhawk stood on its tail after takeoff the first time I flew it with the ordinance.

He discovered that during the flight. He needs to find that new balance between gear up and gear down shifting the CG.
