On this channel we like to do a lot of dogfighting most videos are some sort of dogfight between 2 different aircraft as we explore their different capabilities. From time to time I like to dabble in Virtual Reality, I think VR is a great new technology and I love to show that stuff off for the channel from time to time.
If you prefer more up close and personal dogfights consider the IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battle series and experience intense WWII aerial combat over famous battlefields such as Stalingrad, Moscow, Rhineland and Normandy. Fight in and against Russian, American, German, British warbirds such as the P-51 Mustang, P-47 Thunderbolt, Bf-109, FW-190, Spitfire, Hurricane and rugged IL-2 Sturmovik attack plane. You can also fly legendary SPADS, Fokkers and Camels in WWI dogfights over the trenches of WWI and discover your inner Red Baron! And all of this can be experienced in jaw dropping virtual reality!
If you enjoy war thunder or Microsoft flight simulator 2020 or even dogfighting in Battlefield 2042, consider getting yourself into Digital Combat Simulator by Eagle Dynamics, the Combat side of Aviation with the BVR and Dogfights really provides a different and interesting perspective on aviation. You can fly all kinds of combat aircraft including the F-16, F-15, F-14, JF-17, Su-27, Mig-29, Mirage and the F-18 Hornet along with many other aircraft and helicopters like the Ka-50 and Mi-8.

Your content is so awesome, GS. I’ve learned so much watching them! I now understand the MAR, cranking, going cold, going high and fast, etc. The one thing that still remains a mystery, however, is how the heck you keep up your situational awareness??? Seems almost magical still how you can keep track of where everyone is, when you’re under threat, when it’s safe to turn back hot, etc. Would you consider doing a video some day on how you manage all that info? Like what gauges/instruments you use, what info you’re looking at on those instruments, when you’re looking at that info, etc? Keep up the great work!

When you are going cold, remember your heading and direction where bandit was heading, so when you'll recommit, you'll know something like "I was heading 170, bandit was in front of me. I saw him turning right so I need to scan area right from 170". More accurate approximation come with experience

In India there are only a few things that spoil everything, RD-33 in India there are a lot of problems with them, besides they are excessively voracious at such sizes. Mig all spoil the engines and the ratio of flight time, because even in Russia it has become useless to anyone and the flanker has become the most popular aircraft. Although the characteristics of the Mig are excellent and in many ways superior to the Flanker. If it was a single-engine aircraft with the same characteristics, it would be better. The R-77 100km was developed for the Russian Federation from the very beginning, but they were not used. Even the program to equip the P-27 with an active homing head was closed (but now it seems that this program has been reopened, because the old Fox-1 missiles are easily converted to FOX-3 by replacing the rocket head). The main missile in the Russian Federation is still the R-27ER. The R-77, also known as RVV-AE, is just starting to enter the military, but it is only suitable for new aircraft. Mig-29SMT, Su-30SM, Su-35. The Russian Federation sold new missiles to India because the old P-77s were much inferior to the Aim-120.

Random capture, you can get permission to launch and the rocket just goes straight without capture, there have been so many times that it's not even funny. Plus, you need to switch back to radar mode later. The joint one works now only in melee mode. ET is only good when the enemy doesn't know about you.

I think three of the AMRAAMs were predicting your location in time and space, and ran out of space, space that you were never able to occupy for reasons the AMRAAMs "discovered" for themselves. It seems you tightened your turn against those last two missiles. It looked like they were anticipating an intercept based on the beginning of your turn, and didn't get a chance to react when you tightened the turn.

@@random-b-i2480 false, even before its maneuvering limiters being lifted it was compared to the F-16 in overall flight performance, now that it can actually pull 9g instead of being limited to 7.5 it should be more than match for most early 4th gens only being outperformed by 4.5 gens like Rafale or Typhoon. From opforce standpoint it means it can stand in a dogfight with MiG-29 but will get whooped by SU-27 (30,33 etc) so you have here basically more modern version of the Viper loaded with the most cutting edge avionics to date that also has stealth on top and costs LESS than about on par flight performance wise Gripen E. combine that with most recent armaments like Meteor, IRIS-T or MICA and you have one HELL of a deadly plane that is also pretty much suicidal to try to get in WVR with while being untoucheable in BVR ... its very simple concept, if your plane is non stealth, it automatically loses to F-35 because you simply wont be able to get into range where your weapons are actually usable. If you are in stealth, then you also have to have a plane that has better flight performance while costing less than $160 mil because if you do go over that mark the enemy can field TWO F-35s against your ONE superior platform ... and guess what 2v1 F-35 will tear apart anything... and funny thing with plane costs is, the more you build the less the next batch will cost ... one thing economically wise playing for the F-35 is that recently its getting more wide spread as more and more countries order theyrs, right now its being offered for $78 million, in few years that price will probably go down even more as more of them get produced.

@Growling Sidewinder The ranges displayed in Tacview have the letter "n" before the range in miles, so I suspect they're displaying nautical miles. The relationship between nautical miles and miles is similar to that between miles and kilometers; 1 nautical mile is 1.6 miles. If they ARE displaying nautical miles, then 6 nautical miles = roughly 10 miles = roughly 16 kilometers, so an AMRAAM fired at 8 nautical miles is not within the MAR.

Yeah, I picked that up when GS said 16 km. I thought that could get nasty. I've always used 1.8km per nm, a quick google says it is about 1.85.

ya thats exactly what it did, but thats a little strange cuz it means to beat the missile you just have to turn away from it lol.

@@GrowlingSidewinder easier said then done at speed I suppose, if you delayed your turn 1 second you would have stayed inside the cone. It is prediction guidance... I guess that is a point that can make missiles even deadlyer in the future. If the prediction algorithm would be updated after launch via EW data. So the missile knows what the enemy actually can do...so it can alter its menouver characteristics to save energy or, burn it all, to get the kill.

I believe whoever has the higher altitude position in the merge usually has the overall advantage in the Dogfight for future reference just my opinion

Definitely. If you can dive after the enemy launches, their missiles will (as in this fight) lead into the ground.

The one thing most perplexing---other than the lack of cockpit/mouse capability---is that radar by the right knee. This beast is also constantly trying to approach the speed of light like it's WAY overpowered :)

i still think having at least 1 er is useful. You would win a surprising amount of scenarios against a hornet w/aim-120 inside 20mi if you're cranking and stay outside the mar or get close enough to have a more dangerous 77 shot. i hardly get any r-77 kills outside the 120c mar they bleed energy like no missile does.
