I always sang this chune at school in Trinidad of course,I now live in England and have done so for 55 years but still love my calypso.Unlike Tripod Threefoot I would like to hear this modified and brought back in HI FI,more like morden .

It was a wonderful period in time listening to the Birdie do his stuff. As a scoolboy always looked forward to the new songs he would come with.

Man, this is music. I love the old calypsonians, but Sparrow is the best

Mighty Sparrow.

Sounds exactly how I heard it on my grandmother transistor radio, don't anyone modify this and bring it back in any HiFi or something else. There are somethings we must have when you're my age as memory, playing the days you heard it and what was happening

I'm with you. Leave it as it is. No modifying, no Hi Fi "or something else." Just the original.

@@tripodthreefoot2268 Yeh man! Ain't no thing like the real thing. The root. Music is always sweeter at the original root. Those who were fortunate to experience the Golden Age of Calypso; to hear the music as it was composed and sung, understand why it still brings back wonderful memories, and more often than not a tear or two. Enjoy it, TT, it is the soundtrack of a life well lived. Peace, Cameron.

Sparrow knew how to put lyrics together and come up with fantastic calypsoes.

One could say that The Mighty Sparrow was the Caribbean Poet Laureate of that period. He went the extra creative mile and put his inner voice to music. West Indians did not need the stuffy British to crown him as such. We knew it in our hearts that this man was special.

... that line in the second verse goes, "... with so much ole nigga, and so much o' bums." Sparrow really took Lord Melody apart on this song.
