How to Replace Front Disc Brakes - Lincoln Continental (And most other vehicles)

How to replace the front pads and rotors. This was done on a 1998 Lincoln Continental, but this applies to most Lincoln/Fords and other vehicles as well.

Awesome video not exactly how I do all procedures but makes complete sense. I always put the old brake pad into caliber piston ,and put the C-clamp on the old brake instead of directly on the piston. I only started doing it this way because I pinched a hole in the rubber boot once. Your tutorials are awesome I know exactly what your doing. But still search for knowledge. There's always a better or different way. Never thought of turning the wheel out to access the caliper bolts easier. That will save me some time Thanks

I am wondering if there was a special tool beside a c-clamp? On my 97 Ford Thunderbird it took a special tool to back the caliper piston into place. I am also wondering if perhaps the Mark 8 caliper might be a little different? If anybody knows

What is the purpose of the spring clamps? How did you get them flattened out before installing the caliper? I know in the rear they go through the caliper, the front doesn't seem to do that because of the metal plate installed.

MM, what is the white lubricant used to grease the pad slide area? I could not distinguish from the audio. Thanks in advance.

+Tom Jonas I normally use anti seize on the slides. Grease should work as well.

Do you know if Goodyear Wrangler tires off a 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 5.0 AWD will fit on a 2001 Lincoln Continental?

Probably not. Most likely it would rub. And Goodyear Wranglers are made for trucks.

If a person is going to change out the Pads & Rotors should you also change out the Brake Lines as well & what about these high performance Pads & Rotors like the Z26 Brake Pads & Rotors for a 98 Lincoln Mark VIII

You'll need new brake lines years or decades after new. When they start getting clogged or rusting

HELLO ..GREAT VIDEO INSTRUCTION..., I HAVE 2000 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL-- FRONT ROTORS ARE DRILLED/SLOTTED & OUTER SHOWS NO RUST OR SCORING {VISUAL THROUGH RIM HOLES}. HIGH VIBRATION/PULSATION OCCURS AT 45-50M/P/H. REAR ROTORS WERE BADLY RUSTED/SCORED WHICH I THOUGHT WAS CAUSING VIBRATION/PULSATION. & RECENTLY REPLACED WITH DRILLED SLOTTED POWERSTOPS & AKEBONO CERAMIC PADS @ $300 LABOR ONLY USING MY BOUGHT PARTS. I SENSE RIP-OFF FOR LABOR...PLEASE ADVISE AS TECH NOW STATES I NEED FRONT REPLACEMENT. MAYBE, I ONLY NEED PADS? PERHAPS, 2ND OPINION IS NEEDED? THANK YOU & WOULD APPRECIATE ADVICE:}

That rotor didn't look to bad. Did it just have a bunch of ridges and stuff is that why you replaced it?

they were worn more on some spots, so it vibrated a lot when you were braking. I probably could have resurfaced them, but wasn't that much more to buy new ones.
