Given the long history of development, it seems neither Gujaratis, nor Marathas, but the Britishers who envisioned, invested, built and driven the economic growth of this magnificent city. And the labourers who worked on there plan. It’s there foundational development that provided an ecosystem to thrive. Ppls who thrived in this developed ecosystem are now claiming the credit for its development. Native Marathi culture is, has and will always be prominent in the city for good 🚩🚩🚩

Introduction is incomplete. Pre mauryan period and till the arrival of Portuguese the area was called MUMBAPURI, as "pur" is the demonym in Sanskrit and prakriti and "puram" in Dravidian and "bad" in irani. Guarded by Mumbadevi as goddess of islands. The Portuguese were the first to rename it and later Britishers did the same. Almost 500 years now it's Mumbai.

Mighty monk....what history video are you making of mumbai?? You are talking about mugal ruler as a king. Then Portuguese, British Dutch etc... Where were the maratha empire?? From 16th to 18th century shivaji maharaj to peshwa bajirao they were the rulers & kings of india not mugals. And what Portuguese & British your taking about Maratha Armar means navy was active of that time... When your specially talking about mumbai & Maharashtra dont forget to mention our kings.

Old history mentions this place known as MOH-MAI. It’s a Sanskrit word meaning “ Miss CHARMING “. In the following centuries when finally British came and named it Bombay.

I disagree the original name being Bombay & not Mumbai. Mumbai originating from Mumba Devi must hv been native name which was mispronounced as Bombay by British/other colonists...just like Calcutta for Kolkata.

He forgot one point to add:- in order to join those islands of Bombay, British persecuted many tribal communities (secured by Marathas & surat king) of those islands & forced them either to convert or to act as bondage labours & for industrial area many people were forced from country to settle from various areas as workers after expulsion of local artisans who died in drought of Deccan although Marathas tried to save & support them.

सर 1664 मे जब शिवाजी महाराज ने सुरत की लूट की थी तब अंग्रेजो ने सुरत का कुछ कारोबार मुंबई मे ट्रान्सफर किया...और उसके 6 साल बाद फिरसे शिवाजी महाराज ने सुरत की लूट की, तो अंग्रेजोने सुरत का सारा कारोबार मुंबई मे शिफ्ट कर दिया...इस वजह से मुंबई को उस वक्त से सुरत से ज्यादा महत्व मिलने लगा...ये बात आपने इस व्हिडिओ से क्यू नहि बतायी
