Migraine headaches are episodes of pulsative and unilateral head pain that have accompanying disability and other associated symptoms. The pathophysiology of a migraine headache is believed to be due to either release of vasoactive neuropeptides causing abnormal vasodilation, “sterile” inflammation and/or neuronal impairment. When a migraine headache is elicited, there are particular phases by which a migraine headache occurs. In this lesson, we discuss the risk factors for having migraine headaches, the triggers of a migraine headache, what happens in each phase of a migraine headache, how migraines are diagnosed and how they are treated.

I’ve been diagnosed with Atypical Migraines. I was getting 15 per month. My Dr. put me on Topiramate, Propranolol and Prozac. Now I’m down to 5-7 per month. Better but I wish it was fewer still.

My migraines came on suddenly after the birth of my first child. Extreme pain, increasing pain, constant vomiting to the point of not being able to walk. When I asked my husband to take me to the ER for a headache he couldn’t understand how a headache could be that bad. By the time we got to the ER they thought I had a brain blood vessel issue. I was pleading, crying and begging them to stop the pain. I had them for two years one to two times a month. The only relief was to be given a strong pain reliever, a dark room, quiet and sleep. I would wake up feeling drained. Finally I was admitted to the hospital for another health issue and a blessed nurse came in with a new med that contained something for the headache and something for the nausea. I learned how to tell the difference between a regular headache and a migraine. I took two of the capsules as soon as I realized it was a migraine and one more every couple of hours. I’m sorry I do not remember the name of the med but within 6 months the migraines ceased and I never had another. In fact I rarely even get a headache. Personally, I don’t believe they were migraines at all, but rather something related to the spinal block I received prior to my c-section. My mother and at least one cousin had migraines but my mothers lasted most of her life. I thank God I no longer have migraines, for me they were truly debilitating.

some causes : inbalance progesteron/oestrogen, magnesium deficit (stress), serotonin deficit, hypothyroidism, dysbiosis

Yup, I get mine every menstrual cycle because when progesterone drops, it can often cause a migraine. I also get migraines if I cry hard or if it’s really cold outside or swimming in cold water with my ears not having plugs in them. And then I just get them randomly too which is great. Love it haha

I suffered for years with aura migraines. They suddenly changed to visual migraines only i.e. the aura only with no pounding headache to follow. Freaked me out, first time I was at work and had to drive home with a big zig zag of a blind spot (not recommended!) The whole way home I was waiting for the headache to knock me out but it never came. The times after I was sure I must be having mini strokes. Saw a neurologist and these apparently are quite common as you get older the headaches ease and you can get just the aura and the postdrome. Neuro put me on Amlodipine and so far so good.

Why does CSD occur during aura? Is it due to vasoconstriction? If it's why vasoconstriction happens? Is there any relationship with serotonin?

Do ever feel like ending it all? I am so sick of my migraines. I take meds, Maxalt and do Botox treatment. I have seen so many doctors. Can’t do this any more.

Yes, I feel that way. I truly have ptsd from my migraines and live in fear when one is going to come. I get so sick to my stomach and the pain is unbearable. Mine last 4 days at a time. I was going to the ER every single month but they no longer help with good meds at the ER anymore, just give you zofran and toroidal which do nothing to help. I am at the end of my rope as we speak with a horrendous migraine that’s had me vomiting and suffering for 2 days now. 2 more days to go.

@@redpillyoass5894 I am so sorry! I feel your pain. I am now taking Topamax. It has made a drastic difference except it has killed my appetite. I have to literally force myself to eat. I have had 7 migraines in the last month. Pls ask your doctor about it. For your sake and mine. Trust me. My migraines have been going on for 25 plus years. This has made a major difference. ❤️

There’s no cure. I get mine every menstrual cycle too. The only thing that helps a little bit is being on birth control pills every single day and not having a period anymore. The migraines will still come but not as often.

migraine ki problem meri aunty koh thi toh uno ne buhat doctors se medicine li kahi se fark nahi pada, fir hamne socha chlo ek war ayurvedic medicine leker dekh lete ha. fir hmne baha se ilaj suru kiya, toh meri aunty koh thode hi din me fark padna suru ho gya . toh boh fir bilkul thik ho0 gya.
