The reason the supra is valued over the 3000gt comes down to the supra being cheaper ironically. I remember back in ~2003, the supra community was so far ahead of the 3000gt community because it was cheaper and easier to mod the supra versus the 3000gt. You want cams for your supra? That's two sticks, the 3000gt is 4. The list goes on, and it was just more accessible for people to get 400/500/600 hp out of a supra. It seemed like it wasn't until 2012 or so when someone finally slapped a standalone ecu into a 3000gt. The 1/4 mile record for a long time was held by guys with maft translators or super AFCs. So many things held the platform back which, held the platform back. That accessibility and notoriety the supra built up in those early days has stayed in the mind of the 18 year olds back then who are now in their 30s and 40s and can afford to buy their "dream car" and dump money into it. Plus everyone knew the 3000gt was fast but wouldn't touch them with a 10 foot pole because their reputation was that they were super unreliable.

Very mature conversation with loads of valid points, doing things differently is lonely and you have to be comfortable and try and remove your ego. Just enjoy it.

I think the price of these JDM cars are pretty insane but I think for the better. I'm older but it's interesting to see how much of a mess 'older' and 'cheaper' cars are. But, if you bought a car for more than it's worth (and that's VALUABLE to you), I think you can do what ever you want with it to enjoy it. As for the KZfaq stuff, dude, it IS insane about the subscriber count too. I see a lot of people trying to get into it but give up after a year. KZfaq is definitely a marathon and not a race. I heard a few KZfaq marketing experts say that if you replace "algorithm" with audience, then it's basically the same thing because if people are watch 'JDM car builds", then eventually, your videos will pop up. I rememeber subbing to this channel back when you had like 10k subscribers because you were very authentic about your DSM/Evo engine build. It was good to get back into your videos again versus a youtuber that didnt even touch the car and then just "hates" the car because they didn't even spend hours working on it.

excellent convo you two had, I can relate with it. As I've gotten older I seemed to have "Chilled" out you might say, less car meets/ hype stuff ya know? To add to the overhyped car prices, being an owner of a JDM evo 8 and a r33 gtr, I do not agree with current prices at all but at the same time who wouldn't want to benefit from the overpriced hype? It's a money game after all! Would like to see more of these vids, I don't think the younger viewers would care much for these but it speaks to the middle age group I think including myself.

I agree with y’all authenticity draws the right crowd for your own personal growth and in time will grow the community you want to be a part of. Almost the definition of built not bought 🙏🏾
