King of the Road, one of the most catchy songs ever. When a kid I used to sing it over and over and over. Roger was so entertaining.

It’s amazing how many hits were written with the same three chords. Beautiful tunes expertly played and sung.

RIP Bob Moore. Played double bass on KING OF THE ROAD, Patsy Cline's CRAZY and Brenda Lee's I'M SORRY, among 17,000 other recordings. Nashville A-Team, RCA Studios A & B royalty.

No lip syncing on these old shows. Either ya got it or you don't. Roger had it.. ;)

What a unique talent. He had a string of hits, not just on the country charts, but Billboard, too.

"King of the Road" is the reason I learned to snap my fingers. It was the semi-permanent ear worm of my childhood (beginning in 1964 or -65, boosted by it being played a LOT on the radio for several years), and it continues to pop up in my mind by spells. Coming up on sixty years -- a long, long time, just as Jimmy said.
@tonylennon7979 Жыл бұрын
He was such an extraordinary talent. His way with lyrics was unique. On top of all that, he had a superb singing voice.

He was funny and clever and could churn out catchy songs like nobody's business and that's a winning combo.I find Roger Miller very attractive especially later on in the 1970s with the beard. I love The Hat from the Muppet Show. He seemed so easy going.

I had a good friend who lived in Plainview Texas where Jimmy Dean lived. She recently passed away. Her son is a highway 🛣️ patrol officer. They are good friends of ours. Our familiy goes to Wednesday night bible study at their home and he comes to our Sunday morning meeting in our home. I live with my oldest daughter and her wonderful husband. My friend’s wife is a nurse and she works Sundays in the Plainview Texas hospital. Our friends both call me grammy. 😅😅😊😊

R.I.P. Joseph Seiffo. As kids, about 7 and 8, he took us in his brand b new convertable to the Dairy Queen, 15 miles away. Trailers for sale or rent was cranked as loud as it could go and on repeat. He'd just bought his sweetheart a platinum and diamond Engagement ring. We were in northern canada and she was in Spain while he was makjng his fourtune. Half an hour later, we were at the outdoor swimming pool...where he disappeared. Later that night, they brought his beautiful body up from the deep. What a sweet,hard working,good man he was. Steanger in a strange land.Gone too soon,always remembered 60 years later...this song.,.😢💔💞

Roger Miller wrote all the songs in the great music in The Big River, and the play used the actual words Mark Twain, in the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. It was picked best musical that year, check out the amazing music.

I've been listing to his music for over half a cencuty and I never realized until I saw this that at some points he's actually competing with his guitar to see who is a better guitar...and he wins. Roger Miller is a better guitar than an actual guitar.
