I've been making these out of paper for YEARS. They're decent gliders when you bend the paper to give it more stability (and use a metal weight at the head).

The reason why it didn’t fly as intended is because the dragon’s center of mass is position behind the center of pressure, leading to immediately flip upwards. It spun around in circles because it had no vertical stabilizer to keep it straight. Hope this helps!

I used to make paper versions of these as a kid!!! I'd fly them from the top of my grandma's deck. This brought back so many memories! To make better fliers, I reccomend angling the wings back slightly and bending them and the tail upwards

Tilt the wings up to a slight V shape (maybe heat it to bend them up) to make it stable in the air against rolling right or left. ... Up and down would be the next thing, the next possible surprise, it could fly like a roller coaster or dive down ;-)

I make paper nightfuries. Usually they need more weight on the tail for them to actually fly, but when you get it just right they’re awesome

If you add a slight dihedral post printing between the wings and make the wings larger and curved you will get some flight

This reminds me of when I used to make paper dragons as a kid. I'd design them, and then throw them off the top of the stairs and see how they flew. Most did not fly well LMAO. The way this thing flies reminds me of how that went. It needs more weight in the very front (so around the head and the leading edge of the wings), and perhaps a more prominent fin/ridge along the spine to keep it straight.

I saw this a few days ago and now have one sitting on my desk lol. Also, that is quite an expensive printing setup you got there, however those multi material spool systems (forgot the name of them lol) are quite handy

I see a typo in the title. You spelled "flying", but that was "falling". The key to flying is to throw it really hard. The harder you throw it, the farther it flies.

Print a form to use to shape the wings after peeling... Heat the dragon, press on the form, cool and fly... You need the wings to be properly shaped to provide lift.

It need a vertical stabilizer and a few degree angle of the horizontal stabilizer, and it will fly better. 😊

u gotta fold wings up a bit they also have high stall speed so u gotta launch it with rubber band

The problem with that was that it didn’t have any vertical stabilisers

If you were to actually follow the images on the link you posted and modified it accordingly you might actually get it fly. (Tail needs to be bent up and the wings need dihedral). Unless you intended it not to fly for the fun factor 😂

OK but I’m just amazed he got that print off like that. My printer isn’t as nice but still I tried to print some thing that was only a layer thick in some parts and it’s like permanently stuck to my bed until I print something on top that helps pull it off.
