Sadly that doesn't work; Astral Dragon cannot target the Mirror while the MIrror is a creature. Step 1: Cast Cursed Mirror, choosing for it to enter as an Astral Dragon on the battlefield. Step 2: A creature named Astral Dragon enters the battlefield with haste, and Miryam lets you get a copy of it. Step 3: There are no Cursed Mirrors on the battlefield to make tokens of with any of your new Astral Dragons triggers, just two new creatures called Astral Dragon with haste and your original without haste.

You’ve got it backwards my friend, you need cursed mirror to already be on the battlefield not copying anything. With it already on the field as a mana rock it is a noncreature Astral dragon enters and makes two copies of the noncreature mirror, which each enter as copies of astral dragon, which copies the noncreature mirrors… etc. Good note for executing it properly though!

I have been playing the deck a lot since I managed to build my own with the Wild card in the deck and it's not been cast once include it because if it comes up cool but you don't need it

Red Dragon represents a 12 (out of 120) damage ETB, and 4 damage per turn. With a copy that easily makes it 24 damage ETB and 8 per turn. On it's own, that's a decent clock

Oh yeah, it's a sneakily op card in this deck. I use it in my miiryn deck and it's bonkers

Elvish Piper is also really nice in this deck

Word. Especially on a higher budget with old gnawbones and ancient copper dragons. I've tested prioritising haste and all that treasure really helps set up quick recoveries against subsequent board wipes, not to mention outright lethal combats out of the blue. There's even the added benefit of letting mana dorks tap on cast...

Agreed. I run as many haste enablers as I can. I even prioritized red dragon orb over the green one in my deck. Dragon tempest Temur Ascendancy Rhythm Fires of yavimaya Red orb thingy

Technically the Red Orb also leaves you open to a boardwipe or targeted removal anyway.

@@AricinGrey Instant speed removal can be used on as the dragon is actually swinging in whether the person used the green orb or the red orb (because the hexproof runs out as you untap on the turn you wanna swing in with it). The green orb attack happens a turn later, sure, but in both situations, the dragon can be removed at instant speed on the combat phase that they're actually swinging in on. So both are actually equal there. It's not like people are gonna usually use up their instant speed removal on some minor threat when they see some big dragon with hexproof that's gonna run out soon sitting there. So the instant targeted removal will still likely be removing the big dragon just before it actually deals damage either way. So then it comes down to sorcery-speed removal - targeted and boardwipes. Sorcery-speed targeted removal cannot be used between the dragon being cast by the green orb and it attacking, sure...but the same is actually true for the red orb - because both it being cast and attacking is on your same turn, so sorcery speed targeted removal still cannot be used between it being cast and attacking either way. So again, both are equal here. So the only difference is with sorcery-speed untargeted board wipes. And those are stronger against the green orb than the red orb because they can wipe out the green orb-cast dragon before it gets a chance to attack, and by extension, the red orb is better at actually getting your hit in overall because it allows you to attack before an opponent can use sorcery boardwipes. Yeah boardwipes can remove the hasty creature, but only after the hasty creature has already done some damage. But those same boardwipes can remove a green orb-cast dragon before it's even done anything. So the green orb is weaker overall.

selvala is excellent. I love that card but it's not exacly budget friendly. For an end build it's fantastic though.

Maybe i can inspire you: I wanted to make an Animar-Elemental-Tribal deck, but not with Animar as the Commander. Now i have Horde of Notions as the commander (5 colors), but it is primarily a Animar-colored deck, very few cards of the other colors. Maybe that would be a cool route with dragons. Technically a 5color deck with ur-dragon as commander but a Miryym deck at heart

I appreciate these suggestions- based on the deck he created, what would you trade out for some of the cards you mentioned here? Additionally, I have lightning greaves already, should I double down with darksteel? I really like the idea of having displacer kitten (easily my favorite baulder's gate card, it's so adorable), monster manual, and elvish piper- would you put all 3 in to replace some of the early ramp? I really like maskwood nexus too, especially considering some of the benefits the non-dragons would get from the land cards in this set.

@@hiddenleaf414 yeah, bit that only matters for Gyruda and the like. I run Spark double in my Talrand deck and this being a sorcery makes it much better in that deck.

I bought a playset as soon as they released. 😊 A tip for any Miirym player: a very budget way to copy Miirym is with Identity thief. When it attacks, exile Miirym. At end step, Miirym returns, triggering the copy effect of the Thief-Miirym giving you a non-legendary copy of Miirym. Then legend rule trigger and you sacrifice the Thief.

How does Berserker goes infinite with just Miirym in play? Mathematically you'll need at least 3 copy's ETB to go infinite. It does however goes infinite with Scourge of Valkas & Miirym in play.

@@DutchSnake Miirym and Terror of the Peaks is what I said. You need some way to kill the token berserker after it bounces the original. So Terror of the Peaks, Scourge of Valkas, Dragon Tempest or even a Panharmonicon can allow for infinite ETB/LTB and in the case of the first three infinite damage.

You have to have both cards in hand and if the creature gets countered it's a 2 for 1. Irenicus hits whatever is already on board making it a safer option.

Also, I would recommend Colossal Majesty over Elemental Bond, as the former will draw you a card every turn.

Yes, you copy the non-legendary tokens Miirym makes.

I think it is way better to copy miirym, you can even build this deck as clone tribal. You make a copy of him (eg with clone), myriim sees the copy and makes a non legendary token of himself. You have to sac the clone but now you have 2 miiryms and one of them is non legendary! Now you can begin copying the non legendary token and you get exponentially more miiryms. Or you can then flicker the original miirym and the copy tokens of him trigger their effects. I bet you could build a deck without any dragons, only flicker and cloning and it would work well

Funny you mention that, I played an astral dragon to copy an opponent's crucible of fire twice for my own benefit, creating 4 of them thanks to Miirym so I have a ton of dragons that came in hot with haste at +12/+12, it gets nuts

Double major is a very good card, I think it’s only drawback is that you must copy the spell while it’s on the stack, so you’re racking an additional 2 mana onto whatever spell you have to copy and that can be a bit clunky, especially in games where you haven’t drawn much ramp. The advantage of the vile duplication is you can copy something already on board, which allows you to split up the cost of the copy into different installments

Double Major is good but still far worse than Irenicus's since it puts you 2 turns off-tempo

The tokens will not have haste. It's not an effect that is copied, just like any of the token copies of dragons that are cast with orbs.

Keep rhythm of the wild in not for the haste you keep it in as it stops you big dragons getting countered so you can actually get the tokens in the first place because if they are countered you get nothing the haste on the non token is just a bonus

@@walterrodriguez4325 I play both but my reason for Rapacious is because if you run Temur Ascendency then flickering Ganax will cause you to deck out by mandatory draw. I play concordant crossroad and dragon tempest as well for haste but in some situations if Temur is there then you have to go with what you're given.

What are you talking about bounce lands are also good? Yes you should play the green snow duels since your nature's lore can grab them. But bounce lands gain value in a world where we play both mdfcs and the neo channel lands.

@@Wistbacka I'm beginning to think atleast running 1 is the right answer nowadays for the number of lands that can also be spells, like mdfcs and channel lands. And the fact you get the mana you lose by playing a tapped land on your next turn usually makes them perfectly fine unless you're playing high power. They aren't a strict loss like a normal tap land they also ensure you have a land drop next turn which can be nice. I should clarify I don't really play them either, but for a budget player who doesn't have the cards we likely have they're good. I do wanna test what I said about running 1 for bouncing an mdfc or channel land tho
