Back in the 80's man Finland was a dark, morbid isolated place compared to Central Europe. Also it does not help that motor sport guys always go to ammattikoulu (the lowest possible school after elementary) and were bad at school. Finns in general are really good at english but the guys interested in cars are not good students. We start learning englist at 3rd grade and we also have to master swedish so english is only our 3rd language.

Rosberg is a scared little fucker, he KNEW he couldn't defend his tarnished title with success so he quit. If Hamilton's engine hadn't blown (he said NOOO NOOO on the radio remember?) then Hamilton would've been a 5 time champion by now.

Yep, I was also the biggest Schumacher fan, so you'd want him to win and not Mika. But I do feel that Mika deserved the 2 titles he got, even though I do think that Schumacher would have been the '99 champion if he hadn't broken his leg.

Haha, in Finland it was obviously the opposite XD So I know the feeling lol

So true. I grew up in the typical ferrari-loving italian family, so Hakkinen was like my arch-nemesis, the villain of the story. Yet nowadays I respect him much more than I respect Michael, that as good as he was, did some questionable “behavior choices” throughout his career

As a Brazilian I can say that Shumi and Mika said that Senna was the greatest driver. So I will take their words :v
@cinegraphics3 жыл бұрын
If any of them (Senna, Schumi, Hakkinen) had an incredibly superior car for 7 years in a row, like Lewis has, they would have won more than 7 WDCs. Yes, they had great cars for a few years (usually non-consecutive), but not for 7 years like our nowadays alleged "GOAT" has.
@arismaiden64577 жыл бұрын
I started watching F1 back in 1997. I supported Michael Schumacher but after what he did with Villeneuve I switched to Hakkinen. Those three years, 1998-2000, were the best in my opinion. Schumi and Mika, the last really great rivalry in F1!
@jayboy80807 жыл бұрын
Michael said that Mika was his toughest rival and the only one he feared
@Bb-pw1zi7 жыл бұрын
Don't be too harsh on Schuey. The Villeneuve thing in my opinion was like fight or flight for him and that was his instinct when attacked or surprised. I think his rivalry with Mika was so tough but so fair because he was the only guy he really respected and feared. These bad or good moments make memories of F1 controversial but great.
@beijaflor93137 жыл бұрын
Don't be too harsh on Schuey ? I suppose that incident at Adelaide with Hill in 94 was also an innocent fight or flight response too huh ? The guy was a cheat, out and out cheat, when he didn't do shit like that on track he had to settle for race wins being given to him by contract forcing his team mates to give way if winning, to me he won one title fairly in 95.
@Bb-pw1zi7 жыл бұрын
Beija Flor He should have won about 11 actually if he did not drive a 'piece of junk, a disaster' in 96 and 97 as Irvine said about Schuey's car, breaking his leg in 99 and the FIA changing the regulations to stop the Schumacher domination in 2005. You might not know it but there is a lot at stake in F1. It is dog eat dog. Jackie Stewart was commentating live in 94 and said Hill just 'barged in' and was 'hesitant'. Have a look at this video and the in car view and his opinion for a different opinion against what is usually just anti german rubbish. Like Senna was an angel! If you are going to dominate a sport, you need a ruthless streak. Hill was a bit of a plonker and hesitated and stuffed up twice crashing into Michael in 95. He was lucky that Schuey gave him a title while he ran around in a piece of junk in 96 and still won 3 races. Also check out the Coulthard interview. Only now can he admit that Schuey destroyed everyone, himself included. On the subject of the video here,his fights with Hakkinen were very fair. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/g6hyorF-p8C-YKM.html

Senna did the exact same thing...and everybody still thinks he was the greatest. So why should we feel anything different about Michael? The fact is MS was and is and will remain for a very long time the greatest F1 driver ever, but, and there's a pretty big but, he needs to be given even more credit due to the fact he managed winning championships when racing against Mika... Mika really was good, I used to hate him for beating MS...but now I've grown to appreciate him more and more each day, and their relationship, their competitiveness and most of all their respect for each other and each other's skills!

As a kid in Brazil (before the age of cable TV and streaming services) you could only watch cartoons in the morning monday through friday in the open air channels. In the weekends there were none but the qualifying and race would often fall in the morning as well whenever there was one. To me F1 was kinda like an anime where Ferrari and Schumacher were the hero protagonists while Mika and Mclaren the main villains. The episodes with happy endings were a Ferrari one-twos with Schumacher victorious while Mclaren would occasionally upset the story. Today I still admired Schumacher as the best driver Ive seen from late 90's till today, but thanks to tools like KZfaq we can now learn to appreciate the other amazing stories and characters as well such as the Flying Fin.

When Mika and Schu were battling it out in those days, it was wonderful. I was a Ferrari fan but Mika was such great value, on and off the track. After Mika first called Michael 'The Michael' my brother & I started referring to Schuey as 'The Michael'. As an aside, while I can't speak any 'Scandiwegian' language, I know that they don't have nearly as many adjectives as English, which translates to the English speaker as a kind of taciturn way. I'm sure that's also true, because Mika and Kimi and Keke and pretty much every Finnish F1 driver is short on words and big on action.
