Right for anyone confused or has entirely missed the point. This song is actually a message to his younger sister not to jump into relationships or have sex too quickly just because she feels she has to, because what she would get out of it and what guys would get out of it are two different things. Hence "sucking too hard on your lollipop, loves gonna get you down." In short don't mix up lust for love.

It's used as a metaphor for rushing a relationship, when relationships (or a lollipop) should enjoyed at its own pace, or it could represent the innocence and joy that disappears too quickly for rushing into a relationship just for sex.@@Rafa1589

I am just OBSESSED with the visuals, when the song is quieter at the beginning with very few vocals, the lyrics are MUCH less noticeable, then when the song becomes louder and theres more vocals, the lyrics are presented much more loudly and in your face, i love it!

I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure this song is completely acoustic , which says a lot for it and how well it has aged . No electric or otherwise artificial instruments on it . And I'm pretty sure Mika's voice isn't autotuned in any way.

But I think you'll find that some of the earliest music with electronic instruments (eg early rock n roll) has really stood the test of time. We don't know if The Beatles are going to stay relevant as long as Mozart, but those songs have been popular every hour since their release. I think there is epic great music everywhere in the spectrum from pure acapella, all the way to 100% synthetic EDM made on a laptop. There's also total trash at every point on that spectrum, most of which is utterly lost to history.

For the people who don't understand what the message is, or is confused by "Sucking too hard on lollipop": The general message of the song is to wait until you find "The one"."Sucking too hard on your lollipop" basically means to not try too hard to make a relationship last, because love is something that should naturally happen, and should not be forced. If you think this song is totally innocent you're missing out on Mika's actual genius- since the very beginning he's been putting very dark subjects to very dancy beats, so there's always several layers of possible interpretations. I think this innocent, joyous-sounding song having such ominous and sexual undertones is hilarious and genius. Don't know why everyone is defensive in the comments about it lol
