Best/Easiest Messy Bun I have ever learned to do! Easy, for any hair type. I have done this on my best friend who has thinner hair, I have done this hairstyle on my little sister that has mush thicker hair, I have even done this look on shorter hair as well. It is very versatile!
Supplies: Hair tie (ponytail)
Bobby Pins
and if you want you can also use hairspray :)

I love this look and I finally found a tutorial that might work for me. I'm 65 years old and haven't had long hair since my 20's. Yes, I wore it short that many years. It's been long for about 5 years now and this looks so easy. Than you so much!!! 🙂

Thanks! It looks a little different with layers, but still the best messy bun I've tried. I'm 60, and sometimes a bun makes me look 'classic old lady'... but not this one! You also inspired me to go from reddish brown to ashy with blonde panels.

I cannot tell you how many messy bun tutorials and videos I have watched! Yet I still rarely get one right, and even then it's usually by accident, and therefore not repeatable. But I tried this today, and it not only worked, it worked the first time, with no frustration! I can't thank you enough! Also, your makeup looks amazing. omg I tried this and it actually worked, I thought the bun was just going to look like a big mop on my head lol! I had to do it twice before I got the shape I wanted but it was super quick and simple, usually buns don't suit me at all but using this method changed my mind. Thanks a lot this was so helpful xxx

kaila powell I have thin hair as well. I have found that I need to backcomb my hair in about 2-3 layers on sides and top for ample volume and use tinted dry shampoo before backcombing and using hairspray on each layer. Smooth out the layers with a bristle brush to keep the volume and make them cleaner-looking. I hope that helps you :)

kaila powell Using a texturizing spray/dry shampoo beforehand will help to keep your hair from sliding all over :). Pull and fluff out to make it look thicker or to cover any areas that show your scalp. :)

Thank you thank you thank you!I have gotten so frustrated watching messy bun videos. I can never do them. I am so glad I watched your video. I was actually able to do it! I have thin hair but it worked perfectly. I put my hair in a ponytail first then I did what you did, so I used two hair ties.

Another thing is pull the pieces tucked in first. And also make sure you get al Bobby pins out first, and then just be careful of the mop when pulling out

This is the best! I could never do the messy bun because I have thin hair and always had to resort to using a donut to get any sort of fullness. This is now my go to and it's easy, lightweight .. and can wear it the whole day. Thank you!!!!
