There's a documentary about Eric's club in Liverpool where the new wave from Liverpool came from bands like Echo and bunnymen , Pete wylie, Pete Burns, OMD and the others great Liverpool bands from the time as well.

The lead singers of the bunnymen,teardrop explodes,and wah heat,all Liverpool bands ,were in a legendary unrecorded band called The Crucial three,together with Pink military and orchestral manoeuvres in the dark,this Liverpool "scene" was wonderful.

Amazing song and amazing group! brings back so many memories! Fun fact the chords of the song were based on David Bowie's "Space Oddity", played backwards

Even though there are a lot of well known, brilliant songs from America from the 70s, 80s, 90s etc.; but a lot of the majority of good music from those times came from England.

Liverpool produced some amazing new wave bands in the 80s, the Bunnymen being one of them. One band that goes under the radar from that era is The Wild Swans. I suggest you review their song "Bringing Home the Ashes"

Holy **** guys this tune is one of the 80s greatest... and still sounds fresh today absolutely outstanding... in fact i think this song is only eclipsed by one other from 80s which is of course Kayleigh by Marillion (not sure if you guys would know them i don't think they caused much of a stir across the pond, but in Europe they were massive!) In fact the misplaced childhood tour was the first gig I went to, my mum took me i was 10! She had a massive crush on the lead singer (Fish).... keep smashing the greats, you guys are quickly becoming my favourite people in the world!

Nice song, didn't know this one. Echo and the Bunnymen weren't popular (or didn't break through) in the Netherlands. The only song of them that reached the other side of the pond was *_Bring on the Dancing Horses_* . The style of music sounds like *OMD* . (some will say NOT 😉)

“New Romantics” I think is what they call this genre from this time.
@robhaunui33433 жыл бұрын
Not "New Romantic" - Echo and The Bunnymen were part of the post punk scene of the late 70s early 80s
@msmrsro3 жыл бұрын
@@robhaunui3343 True. New Romantic were more of the punk dandies. There was definitely a romanticism about the music and dreamy, kind of androgynous look of the hair and makeup and styles of Echo and the bands like them of that era.
@robhaunui33433 жыл бұрын
@@msmrsro yep,I will admit though,Echo and The Bunnymen (in particular Ian McCulloch) did have that New Romantic look around this time,and "The Killing Moon" was more akin to that New Romantic sound,than their earlier more brash and edgy post punk material.
