Wow. . .quite possibly the best rendition I've ever heard. Beautiful guitar work. I'm 77 but this makes me want to take one more shot at learning guitar while my fingers still work.

My elementary school choir sang this song during our annual school play in 1971. I've loved it ever since. Our choir teacher taught us a little bit about the history of this American folk/gospel song, beloved by my Appalachian ancestors and the enslaved black Americans who yearned for freedom. Such a powerful song. Sadly, this song would not be acceptable in public schools now because of its message of Christian Hope. That's sad, because it's an important element of our shared history, no matter what one's faith, or not.
