l love Sam Ites too, I knew a bit Mike Love's music before. But now, I try to follow more. Because, currently Paul Spina (the former drummer from Groundation) is behind the kit : As a drummer myself, I love Paul ... I learnt a lot from him just by listening. (I can understand what you say though). When you are used to a sound it's hard sometimes, because the drummer is very important in a band. For me, Sam is very tight and solid but laid back in the tempo : His playing is very influenced by roots reggae. And, he is a talented percusionnist as well. Paul is more "free" ; he plays the song differently adding some rock/funky vibes into it, (by letting himself go with with the flow). But like Sam : He is very connected to the band. When they all go into improvisations or precises breaks : I find what Paul plays is very interesting ! Me, I'm like you, I really liked all the musicians of the group ... You have to get used to the new sound ! Everyone brings something differnt somehow ... I would like to see Sam Ites onstage again along with Paul Spina. :-)
