Mike McCready - one of the great guitarists from the original Seattle grunge movement and lead guitarist in Pearl Jam - discusses his beloved 1959 Les Paul Standard. He says the guitar was the first one he bought when Pearl Jam started taking off. He has used the 1959 Les Paul Standard on many Pearl Jam records and toured the world with it.

Got my first Gibson Les Paul 3 weeks ago and wish I would have given single cut guitars a chance 20 years ago when I started. It just feels like home,it's so comfortable.

59s are my fav neck only bested by the one on the EVH Wolfgangs but thats apples/oranges. I have 3 r9s and recently played the above locally going for $8 grand. Thats 2 mint cond used R9s. I want it for the look but mostly love the aged ones because you can really play the snot out of em and not hold it like a newborn baby. That said, it plays and sounds like a R9. No better , no worse. Bottom line is I just could not hand over 80, $100 bills which is how I look at it.

I've just played a 2200eu les paul and i would never change it to my ESP LTD EC-1000. Well maybe i would sell les paul and buy ESP for 2000eu. It felt like that Les Paul was made from plastic. I think gibson prices are just ridiculous.

Any thing is not anymore how once it was. Taxes, production costs, services, advertising costs are higher and higher, manufacturers are doing great efforts to keep the same prices each year, this is very hard, almost impossible, they try to find and use alternative materials, cheaper ones but this will eventually reflect in the overall quality of the products, poor quality!

You obviously do not have any experience in a multi track recording studio, or even a properly intonated guitar through a clean amp recordings can easily be altered a clean guitar sound played live is the only way to hear the true sound of the instrument, why even try to explain that to someone as stupid as YOU?
