When I ran away from home around 1984 and had been on the street a few days I showed up at this place I needed help and this guy talked to me for about an hour. He was about seven years older than me. I was really feeling better and got some good direction on how to straighten up. Then the guy scratched his arm lifting up his T-shirt a little on the arm exposing the skeleton tattoo and then I realized it was Mike. Then he had to go because someone's there to pick him up I'll never forget that I didn't even know who he was till he was leaving. What a great guy. I was only 16.

Mike, even though he may not enjoy the title, is a punk rock legend to us Orange County kids. I'm glad he's still here and rocking. He branched out and really is a versatile musician. My first punk gig was Social Distortion in 1982 at the T-Bird roller rink. I had found my tribe!

Kaleb Burt : it’s been in the works now supposedly for 2 years??!!!! In a different interview over a year ago Mike said that all the songs/tracks we’re basically done, he was just waiting to get off the road & do studio time ( basically the same thing he said here ) don’t get me wrong I love Social D & Mike, always have always will. BUT : I’m not holding my breath, the rebirth of punk/hardedge music has made it popular, hence Social D gets invited to play all of these festivals now, and as a business why say no, plus touring is lucrative, sorry I’m rambling so much, to sum it up. When you DON’T see em on the road touring, expect the new album 🎵🎸☠️🎶

Cmon people: That style music, has always been violent with political issues involved. Opposite the hippy movement of non violent with political issue involved. So either all you so called/self proclaimed “Old School Punks” have gotten soft & conformed to today’s society, or you never really were punk to start with?????? My opinion is it’s the latter and you didn’t belong here anyway!!!!!!! LONG LIVE SO CAL PUNK ☠️🎵🎸🎶 !!!!!!!

Michael Giordano : Somewhere someone filmed the 84 GBH (City Babies Revenge) Philadelphia CEC show with me singing the opening of Sickboy with Colin then sailing off into the crowd I was 18 and by then starting to get sick of the scene. Too many bands that all sound the same sucked ass,, But GBH were always a blast & I was fortunate enough to see em twice back then 82 & 84. The reason why I still call Social D “Punk” is because people don’t understand anything unless it’s fuckin labeled, and when I was turned onto Mommy’s Lil Monster alblum in 81 they were part of that SO CAL punk scene, so there in my 🖤 they’ll always stay, matter of fact I’ll be at their Philly show next Friday 9/28

This was great, nice to see these 2 hanging, seems like a genuine rapport. But here's my biggest takeaway: Mike talking about classic-rock listening jocks in '79, '80 "focusing on the different" and not being able to deal, even though punk actually built on the roots of rock 'n' roll. Well Mike, that working class farmer, who listens to punk rock, was rebelling against your politics at your show, those are traits I relate to you. But you focused on the difference, he's on the "wrong team", and it became ugly. Still love Social D, always will, and people make mistakes, but at some point I hope you publically admit you fucked up.

I accept my punishment, but I was still right in my actions,... and never apologized or any stupid shit... judges aren’t stupid like cops, they’ll see the fat fuck asked for it, make Mike just pay for his vet,.. oops I mean dr bills,.. and maybe take anger management, but if he already has a shrink,... that gets washed... It’s our heritage to kill nazi scumbags, he was just practicing an American tradition,...

Go stick your middle finger in any boxing dude brought up on the streets 9 out of 10 times you'll get that outcome has nothing to do with politics. Learn not to run your mouth (or finger ) to the wrong people. You wouldn't walk into a biker bar and call motorcycle riders a bunch of pussies and expect to walk out because it's protected speech.

I don't recall any Social Distortion song that I consider hard core punk, but I don't know all their stuff. I have a soft spot for old Bad Religion and Sex pistols but the whole punk rock movement was really stupid.
