You've asked for it, and now they're here! My favorite inks in lots of categories! Some of these categories are really specific, but that's how my colodex is organized, so that's what we get! These aren't in a particular order, and sometimes there are more than 5. Honorable mentions are always an option!

What a coincidence that you posted this today, because just earlier I was searching for some dark greens to try after I realized I have virtually no green inks! I'll have to give some of these a try. I've also long been trying to find something that's similar in color to Noodler's Bad Green Gator but that is actually usable; cool color, but an absolute trainwreck of an ink.

Your honorable mention strongly resembles Parker Penman Emerald to me which is also NEARLY unobtainium but a bottle of it emerges every now and then. If it interests you, Scribe Malachite is an intentional recreation which IMO doesn't get the shadowy forest depth level but does have some of the nice sheeny bits and luminosity.

I have a couple of the Scribe inks. They're made by the same person who developed the original Penman inks.

@@inkdependence That's neat! Thank you for that- I didn't know there was that continuity, though I did know they were intentional duplications. (Some being closer than others IMO) Ruby was literally my first fountain pen ink. I'm a bit sentimental about it. I feel they were a bit before their time.

Oh so many green inks to love! Bungubox Norwegian Wood and Graf von Faber-Castell's Moss Green are my favorites. Monteverde Crocodile is also a nice one. Loved seeing your picks!

Moss Green is a really good one. I haven't tried the others, though.

I agree about Blackstone, I have several bottles and colors but missed some that I would like to have. Greens are my favorite. Great video.

I love Sailor Miruai. Diamine x Cult Pens Deep Dark Green may classify as a green-black, but it is quite wonderful.

Sounds like I need to get that Deep Dark Green. **Edit: Looks like I have that one and it just didn't quite make the cut.**

The Miruai (Mee-roo-ah-ee) looks really nice. Got too many already, but will add this to the to-get list.

It is really good. And it's hard to go wrong with a Sailor ink.

Green is one of my staple ink colours, so glad to see these videos come out just when I've been in the midst of experimenting and trying colours out! My current favourite is Diamine Sherwood, nice to see it on your list as well. My green inks go in a X-fine daily writer, so it's tough to get a good grip of the colour sometimes, or even see any kind of shading. Go Green!!

Taccia Midori and Diamine Sherwood are two of my favorites. My overall favorite dark green though is Sailor Epinard. Its such an interesting green. I wish they would bring it back.

It’s not an exact replica, but try Birmingham Pen Company Zucchini. It’s close.

Pelikan 4001 dark green is my favorite. It is such a great color and well behaved ink.

How dry is that one? Those 4001 inks are always a bit too dry for my preference.

@@inkdependence you are right, it is a dry ink (similar to the Royal blue) but beautiful color.

Miruai is one of my favorites as well. So murky and mysterious! My go-to non-murky and non-mysterious green ink is Private Reserve Avocado, though. The brand had its wobbles after the original owner died. I had two bottles mold on me. My current bottle, purchased after the ownership change (yes, I gave it one more chance because I looooove it) is holding strong. No mold, good behavior, happy writing experience!

P.S. My vintage green Marietta (one of the original ones, with the short clip) is permanently inked with PR Avocado now. I moved my Masuyama ground fine cursive italic nib to that pen and it has become one of my all-time favorite combos of pen + nib + ink.

Yeah, the new PR is good. It's much wetter than the original recipe (which is actually two owners ago), but it's not had the mold issues that the previous brand-owner had. I do kinda wish Yafa had kept the original wonky spelling of "Avacado."

I love greens, especially dark greens. Funny how when I think of mine, there’s a lot of overlap with your own quintet. Diamine Sherwood Green Diamine Dark Forest Sailor Jentle Miruai Esterbrook Evergreen Sailor Jentle Epinard (discontinued, but I still have a bottle)

Robert Oster River of Fire is my favorite dark green. But it might be one of those that go into green black category.

Sailor Miruai (three syllables, mi-ru-ai) was the first ink that I bought, along with the first pen that I bought (Pilot Custom 74 in solid dark green), when I re-discovered fountain pens around 5 years ago. After I bought it I thought it was too dark, almost indistinguishable from black in a Fine nib. So I haven't used it much. I suppose I ought to try it again.

Those are some really high quality first pen/inks! It will look really dark in a wet nib like the Custom 74, and more green in something drier.

Great category! I don’t care for the green inks with red sheen as much, but those are all deep, satisfying greens. Like others, I mourn the loss of Epinard and guard my bottles carefully.
