Agreed 100%. There are times when he starts talking about history and I realize how little *I* know. And I consider myself to be a reasonably high-IQ guy. His knowledge of fight history (names, places, dates, trainers, etc.) is second to no one in the entire sport. If he's ever had his IQ tested, it should be well over 100.

Yes crazy Mike can be like an Indian Sage on many things . I agree . Who i can't stand is the "101st Chairborne" who are just spectating, not in the ring, including the announcers who so wrongly denigrate boxers like Duran and Tyson . Duran and Tyson came from very poor and harsh backgrounds . Tyson was a street child who use to get beat up everyday . I understand how he can be so crazy at times and at others so Wise . The brutal street life can drive you nuts but also gives you much wisdon from the school of hard knocks .

I agree with the positive sentiments shared by others regarding what Mike Tyson said. I've been around over half a century and in that time I have never heard anyone speak to the word "surrender" in such a eloquent and honorable way. Thank you Mike Tyson for the memories in the ring and lately your deeply sincere and humane renderings outside of it. I have use the word "surrender" in the same spirit it was rendered in this documentary as almost a daily practice of humanity to myself and others.

Roberto should have never quit but the genesis of why he did lays with his promoter for agreeing to rematch only four months later. Everyone knew that Roberto liked to party, eat - a lot, and between fights he'd put on thirty to forty pounds. If he had another two months to prepare than he would have never quit, he still may have lost but he would not have quit. Ray Leonard fought a brilliant fight in the rematch and between his antics (bolo punches etc.) his exceptional boxing, and his refusal to enter into a firefight with Duran, Roberto became frustrated and quit.

Well said brother. The first fight was close and could have gone either way. Give credit to Duran for moving up in weight. I respect Sugar for standing his ground and going toe to toe, but it was the wrong tactic against Duran. An immediate rematch and a mobile style was smart. Sugar may have won the first fight with this style as well. I think he wanted to prove he was the better man by beating Duran at his own game. Though Sugar was an excellent mover, he could stand in there with the heavy hitters. Either way, great fight and good analyses on your part.

Duran was rushed into the second fight. He got screwed, and he knew it. He was enjoying the victory, blew up to over 200 lbs., and expected a few money fights and appearances, like most champs do, in between the rematch. It didn’t’t work out that way. The same anger and fury that made him great worked against him in the second fight. It was a big F’ you to all who rushed him in, and to Leonard too, who did nothing in that fight by the way, but run around and act like a clown. Not a good look for a fighter of Leonard’s caliber also. His career proved there is no quit in Duran. Duran is the best fighter pound for pound of his generation, the best I saw in person, and ranks with the greats throughout history.

Mike Tyson must be highly respectable to other boxers. He must remember the match with James Buster Douglas and very important that his wife took over to promote his professional career and quarreled with his past team and put a dividing wall between them and Iron Mike Tyson. In this fight he was living on his past reputation and was living on his past glory. Totally under prepared and lost. I still respect him as one of the best KO artists in the Heavyweight Division.

Jack roper I think you're mistaken, I wouldn't label Duran's style as a "brawler". He was an incredible boxer & this means that he could box at any range, close, long or on any distance. In fact a lot of the greats refence Duran's boxing skills as the highest they've ever seen, including Roger Mayweather.

I agree with most all of you. Mike Tyson is becoming an extraordinary man. It is very impressive. His attitude, intelligence, humbleness, forgiving nature, his gratitude and also his being very realistic is so very refreshing. And if I may be fully honest,- it is surprising. I am extremely happy that he is going this way and at this point onward with his life. Family oriented is another plus. He knows he'll no longer be rich like that ever again and his sweet and good nature is truly showing and appears to be very real/honest and I am , again, super pleased that he can spend the remainder of his days like this. God HAS blessed this man. I mean REALLY!!!.... What an unusual story his life is. From the very start. Everything about him and his life is remarkable. CHEERS! - To all of his fans!!!!

I think its very easy to understand why Roberto Duran stopped fighting. He was partying and eating after the first Duran Leonard fight and had to cut too much weight in a short amount of time. Then he ate way to much after the weigh-in the day of the fight, causing him to get sick during the fight. Really look at the fight, it was close or even and Sugar ray did not "have his number" like people said. Duran was an all-time great like Leonard, and had a win on him. Leonard had no power to knock out Duran even though Duran was a true lightweight in his prime. Leonard was great too, but won most of his fights by tapping and running, but since he was a big ticket seller he got the decisions.

You are probably closer to the truth than anyone knows. Duran came to fight. Like he always does. Problem is, he thought SRL was gonna fight the same way he did in the 1st bout. When that version of SRL was MIA, Duran wasn't prepared to fight the alter-version, and couldn't believe it was the same SRL he fought 6 months earlier. I love watching Duran fights, and dislike SRL. But give him his due in this one; Boxing is the art of hitting, and not getting hit. That was SRL in this fight. For Duran in this fight, it was the art of getting hit, and not hitting!!

This was one of the greatest rivalries in the history of boxing. If you want to make excuses for either man going into the first two fights you could do, easily. You could argue Leonard's ego lost him the first fight, that Duran got under his skin so he tried to beat him at his own game and fight flat footed, in the pocket and he lost because of it. You could argue that Duran was out of shape going into the rematch, that he partied too hard after the first, that the weight cut killed him, etc. At the end of the day they both fought and they both lost. Simple as. They settled the score in the trilogy fight and Leonard proved to be the better boxer. He had that sweet science down to a T.

In the first fight he sent Leonard to the ER. An in the second fight Duran drope Leonard and he was out of shape... referee count the knock down has a fault. Lol interesting... if you look at the cards the fight was Leonard by 3 points.... Leonard team offer Durans manager a bonus check in order to agree on the day. Because his trainer refused the early scheduled. Duran being smaller then all the others was able to destroy opponents young6then him at his prime in weight he is won't belongs to.

Leonard was scared of Duran! he ran around the ring like the cowered he was! he always did that when he was inferior to an opponent. he didn't want another one on one with Duran, they didn't call him the hands of stone for nothing!

@@mehtabbandesha5637 because Duran lost to Hearns and Hagler and other 14 boxers, he wasn't a great champion? He won over one hundred fights, he won 4 titles in 4 categories The last championship was at the age of 37. Excuse me friend.

It's the art of hitting and not getting hit. That's exactly what Leonard did. SRL is the best out of the Fab 4 and Duran is the worst

Leonard isn't shy about why he won the rematch, he readily admits the quick rematch because he knew Duran was grossly out of shape.

Duran ha sido doblemente cobarde, primero x nunca haber aceptado que se rindió, y segundo x k jamas ha aceptado que su rival era superior, por ese simple hecho jamas he respetado a duran.... i never had respect for duran ... why?... first of all he never acepted that he failed an surrendering, next because he never has reconogized leonard superiority.... my humble opinion... he is a coward
