the saddest part about the mcdonalds case is that the lady got 3rd degree burns and hospitalised for 8 days so they could graft skin

@@tkonlyme The value of the fine was less than 2 days selling coffee for McDonalds. Plus they could propagate this story as a mockery saying: "they have to pay hundreds of thousands just for slightly too hot coffee". This on the long run (with USA using a jury system) may even netted them a benefit with all the influence it had on the public opinion on lawsuits against big companies like McDonalds: not only in court they have a massive team of lawyers but they will also try to ruin the reputation of anybody sueing them like this.

The McDonalds hot coffee story is actually much more serious than most believe: - She got third-degree burns in her pelvic region - Hospitalized for 8 days - Skin transplant - She only sought 20k to cover the medical bills. - The coffee was provably too hot for the holders to handle - It was the jury that given all the evidence made the original 20k into 160k for the medical bills and 2.7 million for punitive damages (as this was not a one-time incident). - The judge reduced that amount to 640k, which is 32 times the amount she asked for. So no, this was not a frivolous litigation.

That is all true. But I also believed that she almost died and this case forced restaurants to lower the max temperatures for hit drinks.
@DragonSlapper64

@muyaho3266 this is an industry lie, she was not driving. The car was parked, and she needed to open the sugar packets, something that requires both hands, the cup was only temporarily placed between her legs so she could do so. If the coffee was not so hot as to be hazardous, this would have been a minor, uncomfortable issue with the lids od McDonalds cups, however she was disfigured and McDonalds refused to even pay her hospital bills

The flaw in this dialogue is the admission by the Plaintiff that she told her lawyer the allegation was fabricated, no lawyer would then certify and file the Initiating Process in such circumstances, unless they were crazy with no regard for their license to practise, because from that point on, unless they sack the client, the client had their balls in a vice!

She left her job to start a competing business! Of course, he's going to try and stop her! If she's too stupid to protect herself, why is that his clients problem? And how does it justify falsely accusing a man of rape? One is business? The other is very personal. Her problem is that she brought emotion into a situation that does not call for it. She needs to learn to control those emotions. That is very weak of her. Also, she worked for 10 years, 60 hours a week. I assume she got paid. She is owed nothing. Not to mention, she just admitted to a crime in front of opposing council. Not smart. And then she admitted to telling her own lawyer that she is not telling the truth. I can't see a world where he would represent her.
