Another very insightful video. Indeed the chickens are coming home to roost. Many parallels with conditions back in the 1980's. Young folks in debt face tough sledding. Older folks are watching inflation erode their wealth. Congress is disfunctional and now a shutdown looms large. It's no wonder the demand for U.S. bonds is stalling.

you made no mention of the long-term inflation expectation. That is what is crushing bonds, and in my view that will not change for a long time. This is because energy costs are being forced higher by insane government policy. Also war and housing shortages are inflationary.

I like Mike Wilson and I think he makes a lot of sense. These things are notoriously hard to time with precision, especially in light of record fiscal and monetary stimulus. I think ultimately, Mike's thesis will be proven correct.

Hello Ben. I saw that video with Art about the House. Very interesting for sure. I was thinking about all these students in debt and they cannot be funding IRA and retirement plans. I think this money that went into stock funds each month isn't going to grow if we have a generation of students living in high student debt for a decade or more. My children tell me that they and their friends don't see how they can buy a home with the prices and interest rates where they are. I told my children that is what I thought in the late 80s and early 90s when I was young and then we had the S&L collapse and the market went down as well. It's going to be interesting but this debt is a huge problem.

They dislike Mike Wilson. My guess is that his logic and research defies buy and hold investing. In other words, what he is saying or implying is that there is a time to be in equities and a time not to (or to be less in equities. They seem to hate that / especially Bloomberg.

Just a reminder, student loan defaults no longer count against your credit, virtually guaranteeing the loan won't be paid back, let alone the other bright idea that low credit score buyers get more favorable loan terms than actually responsible buyers with good scores. The decision making taking place is completely asinine, and further explains where this economy is headed.

‘Asset’ is stretching the definition of the word a bit too far. I think ‘instrument’ is more appropriate, and I wish ‘instrument’ holders all the best with what we are about to go through. 🙏
