JBL Club line (and the identical GX that's on clearance right now) sound good with a silk dome tweeter and are about 2 ohm for those wanting to keep the stereo stock. If you go to 4 ohm, the speakers are going to play stiffly without an external amp because they'll be pulling less power.

This is the best way to change the speakers in your vehicle. i changed my dash speakers, and sound was off, so i replaced my door speakers and the rear speakers were not working with the front and dash, so i had to replace the rear lift door speakers on a 2020 Toyota 4 runner. in short regardless whos speakers you want to use, this video is complete.

This is a very good video. One additional tip. If you take off inside window molding, it’s far easier just to push in the interior door trim assembly. If you do it the way it’s shown in this video you end up having lots of the fasteners either fall out or get hung up on electrical/door closure hardware on the inside. The molding is pressfit and go straight and just like all the other ones once you have it off. I’m positive they do it that way at the factory.

Are the wire harness inside the suv all the same sizes or are some smaller and larger than other? Found some at best buy but not sure if they fit all the speakers

Mike, when you unplug the speakers you do not have the long cable connection that you have when you are connecting the OEM+ speakers!!! O was installing the OEM, and their connection in the speakers they shipped is in the middle of the oval frame, and the stock speaker is on top. The cable to connect the new speakers is not long enough to connect the OEM+. Question??? Did you buy a connection cable to be able to connect the new speakers?, and is yes, what kind of connection? Thanks! Keep it going!

How much better are these over the stocks? I notice we are having to turn the volume up to 40+ to hear the current speakers. We don’t want to change the head unit but will new upgraded speakers alone improve this?

I’m not sure but doesn’t the 4Runner have side airbags? If so are they located in the door and can they be accidentally deployed?

A little too pricey for what it is. You can spend about 350$ on a full speaker upgrade from Crutchfield with aftermarket brackets and plug and play wires that they supply with each order.

Plug and play is the only way to go.

Thinking of doing the OEM sound with my Tacoma. No JBL upgrade on my truck...so I'm sure it's very basic.

Gonna look into this. I was pleasantly surprised at how good even the Non-JBL 4Runner stock system sounds in my 19’ SR5 4X4. My 18’ Tacoma Off-road has the JBL and it sounds like shit tbh.

Why didn't you sound deaden the doors when you had the panels out? You spent over 600 bucks to make it sound better why not sound deaden and make it sound great!

I just have to say, why would you do the easiest side as the video? You would think you would have done the driver side with all of the extra switches . I’m just saying.
