Hi Working Man, What amazes me about fine handcrafted work, is your level of patience. Some joints are amazing. Fine joinery was borne out of non-existence of metal fasteners for many centuries. Speaking of "open time", we can't use Titebond ll in Arizona summers, it dries in seconds. Rush Rules. Recently listening to The Offspring. Movies...T1 and T2 both excellent entertainment, I worked in North Hollywood/Toluca Lake where much of the filming was done, so i recognized much of the background. (Surrounds Universal Studios).
@MikeFarrington
@MikeFarrington 5 жыл бұрын
They call me the Working Man. It does take patience, no question. Thats one of things I have learned over the years. It has taken me many projects to develop patience. Rush is great, The Offspring is pretty cool too. I grew up in Orange County, so I am somewhat familiar with the surroundings of the Terminator movies as well.

I hope you take this as a compliment, cause it's meant that way: The cabinet reminds me of some of the casework I have seen in Mike Pekovich's furniture. The proud dovetails, the inclusion of the Kumiko-style panel, the elegant panels combined with the sturdy feet. Overall a very well balanced composition, the cabinet really looks amazing and the execution was top notch. Loved the video.

I like it. The round finger holes for drawer pulls remind me of a beautiful sailboat I used to own. A 1967 Cal 20 with a custom mahogany interior. Normally furnished as a racing cruiser, with marine plywood cabinets, a previous owner had done some really lovely work on the interior. With layers of golden varnish, it would just glow in the San Diego sunset. But I digress; nice work on the cabinet - the trim panel works better with the joinery than kumiko would have. I'm glad you took the time to let your concept evolve.

Mike, I just got done watching your entire catalog of videos. I must say the one thing I hate about your channel is that you don't have more videos. Your work is impeccable. It is an inspiration to watch your work technique because it reminds me that I should always slow down and take my time. The results always turn out better that way. Also, I laugh whenever you say "do you guys think that I should do a video on..." Because the answer is yes. Always do a video on that, whatever that is. Congratulations on all of your successes, keep up the GREAT work, and for the love of god, please make more videos! (There must be some KZfaq algorithm that applies downvotes to videos. I don't understand why anyone would not like yours)

Mike your stunning craftsmanship aside, I love all the little gems in your submissions such as the weather shots and of course The Shop Apprentice. I'm a fan of two wheel motorized conveyance thanks to Mr. Peart so now I'm an unapologetic weather geek. And my own shop apprentice is off to college in a few short months. My heart is heavy each time I ponder that thought. Spend time with and value those moments with your adorable son. Thanks as always for the quality content. Your work defines the very best of what KZfaq can be.

Thank you for the kind words. I just picked up a new two wheeled conveyance myself. Hopefully I have time ride it this season. I couldn't imagine send my little guy off to college.

Wonderful news relative to your new toy. At the risk of sounding like an old BMW rider, it's all the gear all the time no matter the heat or hassle. I intend to extensively tour your lovely state one day. And yes, sadly you will turn around and he'll be off to college too.

I raced dirt bikes back in the day. I have thrown plenty of bikes at the scenery. From that experience I am an "all of the gear all of the time" type of guy. This is a great state to tour. If you are in the mountains, its hard to be on a bad ride.

Beautiful cabinet Mike. I think the finish really does this piece justice. There is just enough black- not over done to add interest and really sets the wood grain off. Great work!. Thanks for sharing!! :)
