Hello Mike I have a black Werra 1 I bought about two years ago, I was told it was a Werra 1, it was faulty the shutter did not work at all and the focus ring was VERY stiff indeed.. So following someone else's instructions I disassembled the lens as you are doing now. Something came up and I did nothing with it for almost a year, now I have forgotten what I have and haven't done :-) I am rather old and forgetful. So I am hoping that your instructions will help me put it back together. I have got the focus ring working smoothly now and the shutter blades seem clean and don't need much persuasion to open and close, but at the moment I am unsure as to whether the shutter will work once reassembled, time will tell :-) thank you for taking the time to post these videos. I have become an EXA and EXAKTA fan in the meantime and have repaired a number of them,I have three which I am struggling with . Frustrating fun. Cheers.

Interesting video, and glad I didn't refer to it before working on my Werra 1 which has a Prestor SVS shutter! This is because removing that is MUCH easier, involving merely removing the locking ring inside the film chamber as in this video, plus four screws that lie either side of the same ring. This enables the whole shutter/lens assembly to be removed intact. Since the problem with my camera lay in the shutter release failing to fire consistently, it was a simple job to rebend the rod that connects with the shutter release on the shutter assembly ( it can distort upwards with time, whereas it needs to be slightly down to enagage correctly), and at the same time lubricate the rod where it passes through the camera body, and was not returning correctly after firing. So look carefully at your Werra, and if it has the Prestor, do not assume it will require dismantling until you have removed it from the camera. Since both cocking and firing levers are accessible ( the release lever is buried, but can be seen through the rear aperture), the shutter as a whole can be tested before any decision needs to be made regarding any remedial work on it.

Love your videos very useful. I've discovered how to fix a sticky Werra shutter blades without disassembling the entire unit. My Werra was pretty much dysfunctional had heavy dust and old grease on the shutter blades, what I did was use Isopropyl rubbing alcohol with a cotton swap q-tip. Cleaned it from the rear open access area, the alcohol evaporates very quickly and clean, did the trick after a few cleanings and dried perfectly with a working shutter. I'd recommend that route first and if nothing go for your method as a second option. My question is how do you open up the front lens as it has fungus specks on the inner rear?

I have a question. I followed your instructions and I have the shutter working but I do not see the shutter blades moving. My main problem is that I do not see another lens in on the back of the lens blades. Mine is black and a very early model. I'm looking for parts or to turn it into a pinhole. Thank you!

I have a Werra 3 with problem in the speeds lower than 1/60. Can you tell what cause this and how to fix? Probably cleaning issue?
