Brilliant interview Mike! The way Blake describes his endings is exactly how I feel when I finish a book of his-- powerful, thought provoking, and I say perfect!

Solid stuff Mike! If you end up loving all of Green Bones, Fonda Lee has gone on much smaller channels I think it would be cool to see her on here and that convo!

Wow. What a big deal to get an interview with Blake Crouch! I've been reading his books since around 2013 and I've never seen any interviews with him before. I guess I haven't looked for one before, but this was still really cool. I'm gonna follow him on social media now.

"Dark Matter" was my intro to Crouch (because the title sounded interesting after reading Neil deGrasse Tyson's "Astrophysics for People in a Hurry"). Then "Recursion" followed. Those 2 books blew me away. If Philip K. Dick & Crichton ever merged with each other in a teleporter malfunction then we'd have Crouch. Can Crouch go 3 for 3? "Upgrade" is the most emotionally touching science fiction novel since the Arthur C. Clarke classic "Childhoods' End". What book has ever quoted C.S. Lewis & Yuval Noah Harari with such impact? It's Crouch's best yet.

This is a fantastic interview Mike! I have about 100 pages to go in Upgrade and really enjoying it! I remember reading Dark Matter a few years ago after randomly picking it up and getting hit by that feeling that I just found a new favorite! Blake seems like such a kind and interesting person and I’m excited to check out some of his much earlier novels!

Absolutely loved the ending of Wayward Pines. I wish more series would leave on a note of a good conclusion but leaving people wanting more. Have not yet read anything else by him because my TBR is stuffed. 😀

Great job as always Mike. Upgrade was fantastic. If anyone really likes Blake's work and hasn't seen it yet, the Fox show Fringe is basically an amalgamation of all of his works so far. It is my favorite sci-fi show ever and a large reason is the Crouch-esque approach they take to near-science.

Upgrade was my first Blake Crouch novel. I LOVED it! I just finished Recursion… WOW. It was great. I love the science (and what DID he end up saying to Helena? 😂). I saved Dark Matter for my next Crouch novel and definately plan on picking up the Wayward Pines series. Thank you SO much for this interview. Love your channel Mike.

First author interview where I watched the whole interview. I just started reading Blake this year. Just started Recursion. He’s my favorite new author so far. (Meaning new to me) the mention of Dark Matter as a show on Apple TV has got me super excited. Apple is low key and excellent streaming service. Has anyone watched Severance? Excellent show.

I've followed Blake back to the beginning when his first books were available for free for Kindle with J.A. Konrath. They were amazing then and look how far he's come in his writing and appeal to the masses. What a success story! I love everything he writes. His books always make me question my own reality.

Hell yes, Blake is an awesome writer and it was great to hear him talk about his work and inspirations in long format like this. I don't think I've seen many interviews where he has an opportunity to really expand on his characters and thought processes. Just got Upgrade in the mail today, can't wait to get started on it. Awesome interview Mike!

Great video. You’re an excellent interviewer Mike. I like how you actually let the interviewee talk without constant interruptions. Very professional. Blake came across really well as well. Read a couple of his books but did not really connect with them the way I had hoped but going to give him another try.

I'm a big fan of Blake Crouch also. Another great book about the multiverse that I recently read in a day is the second book in Peter Clines' Threshold series, The Fold. The first book in the series, 14, is also great and introduces the reader to the Threshold universe. The third book Dead Moon is more of a zombie story and the fourth book Terminus, that references the first two books, though still a page turner, is probably the weakest in the series.

I liked Dark Matter. But I am a firm believer that his best book to date was Recursion. There is just something about that book to me that was wonderful. Having said that, I haven't read Upgrade. Gotta finish Swan Song, Wizard & Glass, then back to Mr Crouch.
