Gnarly Blue the judge was just faking it... it's a way of his saying that mikey's voice was very sweet and flowy in his ears 🤗✌️

They all knew, including Mikey. But I'm sure the show wanted at least one grumpy judge to try and mimic Simon Cowell, so not taking him too seriously is the best approach, especially when M's personal style is sappy and that wasn't going to really change. Something edgier may not have shown off his voice as much. You can see that Mikey was affected seriously by the "not your best performance" feedback, however.
