Been Bassin for 37 years and every man has his own style fast catch and release is less stressful on the fish then " playin" em.. to me that all depends on the fish some ya play some ya get in and get back in the water.. to each his own, its obvious this young man has paid his dues and spent his time on the water.

hey capt, i use the livetarget frogs alot out in the glades and i have both sizes in three or four colors, when they are short striking the big ones ill throw the smaller size, with the skirts trimmed about an inch from how it comes out of the box. usually if i have trouble hooking up a few times in a row ill just switch baits and start nailing em. tight lines!

When do you know or determine when the topwater fishing is going to be good vs other times where it might not be as effective? I know mornings and evenings are best but what other factors do you look for?
@CaptainShane11 жыл бұрын
For years I owned the Shimano Curadfo 200e7. Last year Shimano cheapened the Curado. So to get the same quality as the "Old" Curado, you have to move up to the Chronarch. I believe the box says Chronarch 200e7. Heck it is your typical high end Shimano quality. Love it and probably going to buy two more asap.

That's a nice canal. Where is it located? Might want to try it out sometime. Been fishing the glades for 30 years, it appears I missed that one. Thanks Shane...

I was using the Shimano Chronarch. It is a 7.1 to 1.

Thanks pardner. I do not believe Mike was used to such small fish on the line. He is usually hitting the monster bass on Lake Okeechobee.

just a tip at least for me because i use spro frogs religiously in the summer time i suggest using the popper frog in open water and i have alot of luck working it almost like a pop r very slow couple pops a little faster threw cover and pause. just something i like to do. alot of pauses and dead sticking

I subscribed to MikeyBalzz channel, another great video, with some nice size bass.. I just got out of a boot the doc put me in for 2 weeks and now I have a broken finger. I can use my spin reel good but my baitcaster (need a left handed baitcaster reel).

Mike I did not pay attention. It had a orange belly and sort of brown on top. The rubber legs had a shade of blue in them.

Awesome video Shane! Got to love you an Mikey lighting it up - your throwing one of my favorite colored frogs this time of year haha. If you come down to south lox or around rolands/belle glade shoot me a message would love to learn from ya for next years college FLW on Okeechobee keep up the awesome vids

I used to use the Zoom trick worm. I would fish it t-riged or wacky style. I fish all my worms slow untill it gets hot then I swom big worms for bigger bites.
@CaptainShane11 жыл бұрын
The conditions are right... good water levels and post spawn feeding. Hard to beat the glades when it's like this.
@HighDEFish9 жыл бұрын
I'll be going to Okeechobee in 2 weeks. What lures do you recommend using? Also I'm not much of a braid fisherman but do you recommend using braid for fishing the lake?
@CaptainShane9 жыл бұрын
HP43 Swim Jigs, soft plastic swimbaits, big senkos & matt punching baits. Braided line a must! I do not go less than 30#, 65# to flip or punch.
@CaptainShane11 жыл бұрын
Thanks Robert!
@CaptainShane11 жыл бұрын
Matt my technique might not be your style, but it is how I have trained myself while fishing the gator infested waters. I find that I rarely loose one to an alligator on the release, since I have not worn them out by playing them to the boat. As far a tossing them back in.....well thats for my safety. Again having my hand snatched off by an alligator is not worth a gentle release. It's just my style. I have had a gator take my fish 2x. I appreciate you watching and thank you for your comment.

I believe good water temps are different for every region of the country. Our water does not get that cold so a few upward degrees can really cause the bass to start roaming for food. If you lakes is frozen in the winter then that it out of my realm of knowledge. I like the prespawn, postspawn and summer for topwater. My favorite topwater....thats hard to say. I have done well on buzz baits, buzz frogs, pop r's, torpedos, spooks and now the spro frog. I will say that i really like a spook :o)

Hey Cpt Shane! Me and a few of my buddy's were watching your videos and it inspired me to make a channel of our own. I used to live in fl and fished with the gators a bunch now I live in Alabama and the fishing ain't really that easy. But to the point of this we have no ideal were to start with this stuff. Could u maybe give me a few pointers or something in the matter? If you would that would be great!!! Thanks
@CaptainShane11 жыл бұрын
Jordan I would say that my biggest bass have come on a topwater bait. Night is the best, but I consistantly fisg it durring the daylight hours. I have found that guys who have the morning and evening mentality just plain miss a golden opportunity to catch some slobs. I rouninly catch big bass all hours of the day on top but especially between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm. I determine if it's topwater time by water temperature, water depth and structure.
