"Is that Igaram?" is always a good time to reflect on Nico Robin's actions throughout this Saga. She did not kill Igaram and she did not kill Pell. And she saved Luffy. But she is with Crocodile supporting a plan to kill millions in Alabasta. She is such a great character.

Now you've got some more details about Nico Robin - she's very much got her own thing going on, and I think you'll enjoy seeing how the rest of the arc goes. A reminder - names in this series are Japanese fashion of surname forename. Robin's surname is Nico, the same way Luffy's surname is Monkey.

It's no wonder that Zoro is anxious here about Luffy fighting Crocodile. He's remembering how badly he himself lost to Mihawk, who's also a Warlord of the Sea.

When Luffy drinks the water to rehydrate his arm; in the German dub they do a funny joke where Crocodile, instead of saying "Worthless.", he says "Damn Doping!"😂.

18:08 in some of the original drafts for the series, Usopp was actually the vice captain. Also, Nami had an artificial arm and used an axe, Sanji used guns and Chopper used a sword. I wouldn't recommend looking these drafts up just yet, mind, they will have spoilers for future crew.

The theory at the end is really cool, and I would've loved to see Ace beat up Crocodile. However, there's just one big issue with it: in the manga, Ace doesn't actually hang out much with the crew. He leaves much earlier, before they cross the entire desert with him. It's an anime addition that kept him around the filler of crossing the desert. Since the anime follows the manga somewhat closely, minus fillers that don't change the outcome of the story like Ace tagging along for the desert and burning some irrelevant desert animals, it wouldn't make sense that Smoker would go to fetch Ace - it would've been too long since he left. Besides, it would be a bit lame if Ace would have to take over Luffy. Much more interesting to see how Luffy gets to win this fight that definitely feels impossible right now. The stabbing scene is so well done that it's almost scary! I really liked it.

me reading this as it was coming out in the states back when the Crocodile fight was wild, even if obvious shonen protag plot armor, up until him Luffy at worst got smack around a bit not straight up injured

The reason Ace left was because him being with the crew was only in the anime. In the manga, he leaves to chase Blackbeard after destroying the battleships.

Hello 110 and 111 mark you reaching the 10% milestone of the anime (most recent episode being 1109) - what a crazy thing to think about an anime XD now I am starting to think about what point in the story the reanimation by WIT will have reached at 111 :P

Hooks work on the pull, Crocodile would have had to of been behind or upside down above Luffy to impale him like that, at least in a more realistic world.

One thing that is very consistent throughout is the sound design. The music, the background sounds, the overall effects, all very impressive.

Crocodile is not only the first villain to BEAT luffy, he's the first to make luffy STRUGGLE. Sure Luffy had some trouble with arlong but he still managed to put him on the backfoot. Here, crocodile is immune to EVERYTHING luffy throws at him, has nothig holding him back and is WAY smarter, plus he has a razor sharp hook he has qualms using.

i seriously cannot wait to see who they will be casting as vivi and nico robin. vivi of course being the whole reason why this arc is even happening, and nico robin bc im interested to see if theyll be able to find someone who has her mysterious aura of "is she a friend? a foe??". though the biggest question in my head is still, how they will do chopper!! i would understand if they made him completely cgi but i hope they dont. they had sooo many cool practical effects in season 1, so im hopeful :D

I seriously hope they end the second season of the live action with the end of this first fight against Crocodile. Live action only viewers will flip out with a cliffhanger like that. It’s the most compelling end of the season I can think of in any case.

I really hope they keep the kung fu dugongs and the super sonic duck squadron in the live action 🥹
