Mikhail Tal, the eighth World Chess Champion was born #OnThisDay in 1936. He was Soviet champion, world blitz champion and won gold medals in the Chess Olympiads. He held the record for the longest unbeaten streak in competitive chess and was a highly regarded chess writer.
