Watch Mikkel JENSEN (Peugeot 9X8 #93) as he is carving his way through the LMGTEs and the LMP2s at the start of the 6 Hours of Monza after having started from the back of the grid.

the Peugeot is definitely faster than this, you can tell how cautiously Jensen is driving, and rightfully so i might add, given its their first outing and lasting is more important than showcasing pace. And ofcourse thank you WEC media team, loving these clips.

He had to. Monza doesn't leave a lot of room for error in the chicanes and the esses on the back straight. It's a difficult track for passing in the turns. So if he didn't even have time to get along side, then the next best thing he knows is to give the GT cars space to brake.

@@wendigockel There's no way that happens. Most casual fans are not available to watch a race that stays for more than 2hours. It may gain popularity through highlights, but it will not become as popular as F1, motogp, nascar or indy.

Peugeot has the best looking Hypercar compared to all other entries now and even the ones who haven't entered yet like Porsche and Ferrari. It's not even close. All the other hypercars look like modified LMP1s, whereas Peugeot really took their creativity to a beautiful extreme.

@@mikhailfernandez24 So you get teams to join who have a smaller budget compared to a giant like Toyota. BOP is sadly a necessary evil in the new hypercar regs. Without it we will end up like LMP1 again and end up with no teams actually competing / joining.

@@mikhailfernandez24 because it's the only fair way to make happen real motorsport actions without having boring trains with expected winners like in F1 or in open-wheel series in Europe (Indycar is another matter). And because each manufacturer must push to the limit each single component of the car to maximize it after BoP is applied. This is racing, this is evolution, this is real sport. Not fake.

I think the Pug is going to be quick,but it'll take time to become reliable, it's going to be interesting to see how the BOP is next year between the LMDH cars such as the 963 and the LMH cars. I would imagine that the ACO will ensure a favourable BOP at Le man's next year for Peugeot.LOL.

yes I know all the cars he overtakes are slower classes, but that doesn't take away that it's still really impressive. Overtaking traffic like this on the first laps where they're bunched up the most is not easy. I dare say 90% of the people saying "not impressive because slower class" would've only overtaken a handful of GTE ams if they hadn't crashed into T1 first.

I love the way the peugeot looks, but is that slight porpoising I see at the end of the straights with all that ground effect? Or just the stiff chassis bouncing under braking? Still way better than an F1 car's comical ground- bashing though.

As you said it's their first race and their objective was to finish the race with one of their cars so they filled it. And when we look at the first race of toyota in 2012 it was a tricky race, but 10 years later they are THE team to beat. Of course this race should have been better. But i'm satified of this result, for a first race.
