he great cellist and his Hungarian pianist partner traverse the Beethovenian repertoire for their instruments, including a set of variations and a sonata from the composer’s early period, one from his middle period, and one from the beginning of his late period.

the Hungarian flavouring is superb - it captures the spirit of the pieces perfectly. I feel like I am back in Vienna, when it was very much the cosmopolitan, Austro-Hungarian city of Europe. Superb performance, absolutely superb.

0% Perenyi and 100% Beethoven! I really like his rather calm way of presenting those pieces but not loosing any drama

Cello performance that melts the heart, even the accompanists who makes the perfect sound, I think the two are fantastic combination.

@@misssarahashplant31 the Casals recordings have always been my "go to" for the cello sonatas, but I have to say, this performance hits my heart maybe even more. They are both superb, just different.

Well, 3 hours spent and I just can't figure Beethoven and especially these two videos. He just doesn't make sense to me. The performers are great. The entire time this music just never meant a thing. Notes upon notes for hours with nothing more. I am sorry but this is just me speaking.
