To be honest, after the Russians were deterred from Estonia - aided by the Finnish volunteers - several decades ago, the Estonians really did not Finns to stay in their country a moment longer 🙂 We Finns are not exactly amiable. We did not treat the Estonians correctly, and we were always drunk or something. The Estonians do love us, that is not a problem. They just want us to handle the problems and go away 🙂 I would so agree with that sentiment. It is not the fault of the Estonias, rather it is an inherent problem with us Finns. I am in love with Estonia, whatever happens. I will protect her as much as I can. The Russian dictatorship will not get it as long as I live. I am in love with Estonia. Btw, please do not reference Eesti as Viro. Only Finns are allowed to call Eesti by that county name, Virumaa. Just for translation purposes notification here. Otherwise, everything is perfect 🙂 That is beautiful.

This is a true story: I was a combat engineer squad leader, in the winter of 1983. The "enemy" (our own, of course 🙂) assaulted our positions. The temperature was minus 40 degrees Centigrade. You convert that to Fahrenheit if you want to. In my squad alone, one of the soldiers had his assault rifle frozen solid. No kidding. Too thick oil. He tried to kick the moving parts with his foot. To no avail. The mechanism just did not move at all. That is, one fighter less to oppose the assaulting force. The good thing was that most of our platoon was operational and we were able to deter the hostile enemy 🙂 For some odd reason, they refused to surrender too. Well, they were Finns, so it is understandable.

Mie kerron tämän nyt Suomenkielen murteella, MIL3010. En edes halua että tätä ymmärtää monet muut. F/A-18 Horneteissa on erittäin vakava ongelma. Tämä koskee siipien pakkaskestävyyttä. Lähinnä Yhdysvalloissa vissiin Pohjois-valtiot ja Alaska siltä osin kun heillä on Hornetteja. Samoin tietysti Kanada. Eli on havaittu mikromurtumia siipien juuressa, lähellä runkoa - wing integrity close to the main aircraft fuselage. Johtuen metallin väsymisestä erittäin kylmissä olosuhteissa. Mikromurtumat johtavat ennenpitkää vääjäämättä repeämiin ja pahimmassa tapauksessa koko siiven irtoamiseen. Mikromurtumat on havaittavissa: Siiven pinnat lähellä runkoa tulee ensinnäkin puhdistaa aivan kristallinkirkkaaksi. Sekä ylä- että alapuolelta. Sitten insinöörin tulee levittää alueille voiteluainetta ultraäänisondia varten. Eräänlaista vaseliinin tapaista ainetta. Sen jälkeen insinöörin täytyy tutkia koko se siipialue ultraäänisondilla. Mikromurtumat näkyvät heijastuksina ja anomalioina näytöllä. Insinöörit osaavat tulkita heti jos metalli ei ole ehjä.

Just a reminder, Estonia has a winter too but it is not anything like we have here in Finland. Once we join NATO, please be prepared. We do not have as much snowfall as some of the states in North America. But please make the oil lubrication for the engines and machinery fairly thin 🙂 Just a hint, darlings. You are very welcome, and I am waiting for your arrival, to stay here, permanently. We have MacDonalds, Burger King, and everything a soldier needs.

Some of you may wonder why the Turkish president wants Finland to join NATO but not Sweden. Well, in my opinion, it is due to a lack - or ignorance - of history. First of all, Finland is an independent country only because a bunch of Swedish wanted it to gain that status. That is, Finland was a state providing the land forces against Russian ambitions to advance toward the west. The Swedes realized that they could not govern the Finns efficiently enough. Hence giving them independence. You and I agree: Those small bundle of people were smart 🙂I still so agree. I admit I am in love with the Swedes. Now, the Turkish president does not know the history. He thinks that Finland should join NATO but Sweden should not. I totally disagree with that sentiment. Does he know that even though Sweded pretty much desolated her land army during the decades of socialist government she still developed the naval units? Does that Turkish president know that even our Finnish coastal radar stations cannot detect them? They are stealth gunships. We do not have those built by Finns, baby. Sweden can. So, when joining NATO is concerned, in my opinion, Finland and Sweden come in as a bundle, like it or not. And, I have wanted to join NATO for decades 🙂

Mil3010, this is an extremely subjective view of the situation between Israel and her neighboring Muslim countries, from a Finnish military brat: The Israelis condoned us Finns, barely. In the Egyptian front, Sinai, Golan, and in Lebanon. The Jews did not exactly love us Finns. You can understand that. Not even the Estonians eventually loved us 🙂

Do you know why the 300,000 Muslims, who have been trying to make sure that the Jews are through to the Mediterranean Sea, trust in the Finnish United Nations peace-keeping forces? Easy, baby 🙂 The Muslims always lose. Simple. Their Russian-supported superiority of 9-to-1 in military terms is just not enough. I still do not understand why Russians hate Israel. It does not make any sense to me. Well, that is my fault, not yours. I am in love with Israel. I do not care if they are not especially fond of me. They have a weird - counter-intelligent - religion too 🙂But we are providing them the best technology we have available. And let me tell you, they are adept at using it!
