I’ve worked customer service for years and the customer is not always right. I understand exercising all options to make the customer happy, but when someone is being disrespectful I think it’s our duty to call them out. If not, we are saying it’s ok to have someone walk all over us and that definitely ain’t right.

In my opinion: the customer is not always right, because no one is always right. I wonder who even came up with that. Although you shouldn't fight back with the customer, that customer was given simple instructions and she refused to cooperate. You wouldn't go over your relatives houses and just destroy their area for no reason would you? You shouldn't do it at a public place either

It originated in the design sector, where architects were basically told to design whatever the client wanted, no matter how impractical the space would be to use. Like if the customer wants east and west facing windows even though north and south is best, then so be it. That eventually bled over into sleazy fast dood CEOs' vocabulary and the rest is history

I had an almost identical situation happen when I was managing subways. After an identical conversation I went to the back to get the cleaning solution and told the customer I would not ring them out until they wiped their smudges off our glass. It's one thing to make this error as a customer if you don't consider what it is you're doing but when you're politely told not to and why there is no excuse for being a complete ass.

@user-eu4vj2gs1z2 жыл бұрын
That’s absolutely not how it works. It is cleaned up regularly like probably once a day but when there are now smudges, you absolutely have to clean it up immediately and this is the case for this story
@brawncartier9642 жыл бұрын
@@user-eu4vj2gs1z Sorry you are Definitively wrong there Pablo the FDA guidelines by which Subway should be following states that the food surfaces (places that food touches) should be cleaned regularly every 4 hours, because the display glass does not come into contact with the food. This would not have to be cleaned immediately and can be sanitized at a later point in the work day or shift.
@user-eu4vj2gs1z2 жыл бұрын
@@brawncartier964 and that’s why I used “probably”. If costumers keep touching the glass as Milad said he doesn’t like it because it makes the store looks dirty so I bet his employees clean it up. Why would you not clean it up immediately if there are smudges?
@ryannagap93512 жыл бұрын
@@user-eu4vj2gs1z lol dude I also used "regularly" though, than you agreed with "regularly" cleaned up glass, but than you said "absolutely not how it works " so I mean your statement isn't proper, but you also completely ignored the gloves which would keep other people from making smudges. I worked in an Italian for like six year. Started when I was 19. It was a cool job, the bosses were two older Italian guys, we had a liquor store down the street and would get beers at the end of the day. We had lots of laughs and good times there. When it comes to the glass, I hated cleaning that glass as the display cause was fucking gigantic and took 20 minutes to make it spotless. Most of the time it’s kids that poke the glass and make a mess, but it’s the fault of the parents for just standing there like fucking idiots and not telling their kids to stop making a fucking mess. So what I would do Is I would grab some paper towels, the bottle of windex, give it to the parents and say “could you have your son/daughter wipe off the fingerprints they made on the glass please?” They would always oblige and have their shitty kids clean up the mess. Never had a problem, and I didn’t have to clean their mess haha.

Well, as a citizen of Canada, I say that there’s also another thing about not touching the glass, it’s the germs that can spread when you touch multiple surfaces, there are so much germs around us so when someone asks you to not touch the glass they just want to keep their environment clean and safe, also, it’s a pain to clean it, so don’t touch the glass.

She expect us to be nice to customers but, do not expect us to take crap from them either. There is a fine line of "the customer always being right" and customers just being rude or a troll. We walked that line every day. There is times I am forced to pull the customers stuff off the counter and tell them to go somewhere else.
