The Colonne di San Lorenzo or Columns of San Lorenzo is a group of ancient Roman ruins, located in front of the Basilica of San Lorenzo in central Milan, Italy. The Columns of San Lorenzo are not only an important Milanese monument, they are also a famous meeting place for students and young people in Milan, especially in the summertime and one of the best-loved crossroads in Milanese nightlife. These sixteen elegant white marble columns are about eight meters tall and were transported here around the fourth century AD, perhaps from an even older pagan temple. The columns gave access to a vast rectangular colonnade that led to the Basilica of San Lorenzo. Thanks to its impressive size and historical significance, it's no surprise that the Colonne di San Lorenzo have become a tourist hotspot. Visitors flock here to admire one of the city's best examples of ancient Roman architecture. Now we wanna walk around this area.
