Arrogant and a little bit stupid. He thought he would win easily due to the lack of the Baresi phenomenon and the other central defender, but a team of that level had substitutes, not even of the same level, (because I don't think defenders of Baresi's level existed before or after him). , but still replacements for 7... He took an incredible beating, Barcelona was humiliated.

Crujff il giorno prima della finale, si fece fotografare con la coppa e si comportò come se l'avesse già vinta, mostrando una arroganza e una supponenza allucinante. La Gazzetta il giorno dopo la partita, titolò: "La coppa è la faccia di Crujff". Ovviamente da allora fino (purtroppo) alla sua scomparsa, non perse mai occasione di parlare male delle squadre italiane. Credo non si fosse mai ripreso da questa partita. R.I.P. in ogni caso leggenda.

That Milan side was as close to perfection as you can get. Outstanding technically, physically imposing and tactically exceptional - they didn't give the great Romario and Stoichkov a sniff of goal. It's also worth noting that the legendary Baresi, Costacurta, and Van Basten were missing from this game, as I believe was the talented Lentini.

En este caso, el comentario se refiere a que Cruyff, famoso por proponer un juego de toque, ataque y vistoso, es el que acaba sin meter ni un gol, ya que la prensa sobreestima al entrenador y a su tipo de juego por su fama, y que esa fama que tiene el entrenador y su juego, es la "milonga", a la que se refiere. Un saludo, por cierto soy español, y aunque no es seguro el que comentó es posible que también lo sea.

What actually comes through here is professionalism of the managers. Even when either 4-0 up or down, both Capello and Cruyff remained relatively composed. No histrionics attacking the refs, asking for cards, arguing with players etc. 2 class managers that the current crop could learn a lot from.

@@Luchon20082010te guías por lo que se dice acá, el partido en realidad era considerado en ese momento como "El Partido del Siglo", ataque contra defensa. Los dos llegaron como favoritos pero el Barcelona inflaba las páginas por la boca de Cruyff. Previo al juego el Milan perdió a Baresi, Costacurta que conformaban la considerada "mejor defensa del mundo" y también a Lentini. Si a eso le sumas la baja de Van Basten, no es de extrañar que muchos pensaran que el Milan iba a perder ante un Barcelona que llegaba completo y en forma. Aparte, el campeonato italiano había terminado casi dos semanas antes de la final de Atenas, por lo que los jugadores estaban más fríos que los del Barca que venían de jugar el fin de semana anterior. Todo se juntaba para pensar que el Milan no llegaba en su mejor forma de juego.

Milan should have gone for the jugular after 4-0, they could have easily scored 6 or 7 and made that game even more historical than it already is. Same goes for the 5-0 game in '89 v Real Madrid, they stopped playing after scoring their 5th with 35 minutes to play. They could have easily scored 7. I say that because Real Madrid and Barca wouldn't have stopped, they know no boundaries, no ethics and no sportsmanship historically, so it would have been just right to punish them with scores that would have shamed them forever

Viendo lo poco que se ve de ese partido, no sé qué queja tienen los aficionados del Barsa hoy día, yo estaba vivo entonces, soy mayor, pero no lo recordaba y qué queréis que os diga, juega mil veces mejor el Barsa de Xavi que ese Barsa del "inventor del fútbol", centros constantes desde el medio campo, tiros sin sentido desde bien fuera del área, patadas, puñetazos. That is why I always laugh when people place Barcelona next to Real Madrid. Barcelona was nothing in the 70s, 80s and in 92 the won the CL and form then they were nothing until the Iniesta Xavi era. And when they stopped, they never did anything in Europe.

Before the match, Barca was a huge favorite to win the Cup. They had the two best strikers at that moment (Romario & Stoichkov) and played excellent football whole season. And they had Cruyff, a genius, at the helm. AC Milan was also amazing, but without two best players in the final (Baresi & injured van Basten), they were the underdogs… And Capello knew that, and did what anyone in the right mind would do: seek help… So he called the greatest Croatian coach of all time, Tomislav Ivić, if he could give him some insight in what tactics to use and stuff like that.. So Ivić prepared him to the smallest detail on how Barca play and what should Milan do.. And voila! You know the result, he perfectly did his job.. Veliki Tomislav Ivić, genije ispred svog vrimena!

If Crujiff manager ( not the player) was a genius I'm Roget Rabbit !! 😂😂😂 As team trainer he was utter crap, arrogant cocky and incapable, in this final he got a memorable lesson of football by Capello, a lesson he obviously couldn't understand -:)

I suggest to you to learn football history starting from golden era of 60s ,hopefully you'll get urself aknowledged that Crujiff as manager won only a champions league, but that was gently gifted by Sampdoria FC and especially by Vialli who missed a couple of incredible goal chances at 3/4 meters from the net ! For all the rest Crujiff was nothing but incapable to train & manage a team, a genius only in being bigmouth and talking arrogant and in making a fool of himself like in this final.🙂🙂 As for the kid's joke you invented about this tomislav something suggesting tactics to such a master as Capello🤣🤣🤣🤣, what can I say ? jugador grande ande o no ande. Máxima del fútbol aquella época. Ciencia del iluminado Clemente q no quería a Fran a de Pedro y así xq no eran torsolata. En fin...Cruiff tenía buen equipo para la liga. Milan era mejor: desssilly, Savicevic, donadoni etc. Romario y stoikov destinados a la nada con ese individualismo q es no comprender nada. Nefastos jugadores para partidos a cara de perro. Muy buenos para meter el gol del siglo en liga, en casa y contra el Onteniente. Como Neymar, Robinho y toda esa purrela

Ricordo crujif quanto fu sbruffone..in conferenza stampa parlò della partita come di una formalità che avrebbero sotterrato il Milan che erano superiori bla bla la sua arroganza fu davvero stucchevole e fuori luogo e infatti anch'io che proprio del Milan non me ne po 'fregar de meno avrei avuto piacere se il Milan avesse vinto..come è andata a finire lo abbiamo visto...mai vendere la pelle dell'orso prima di averlo ucciso...il Barcellona fu umiliato fu preso a pallate non fecero praticamente neanche un tiro in porta critico 'il calcio difensivo italiano e poi i suoi giocatori fecero falli su falli con le regole di oggi sarebbero rimasti in 7 ...ah dimenticavo .un altro trofeo vinto dalla gestione berlusconi R.I.P Presidente lieve ti sia la terra

Demolitipn Barca ghghgh.this was Capello's typical team, solid beyond belief on a defensive level (even though in the final they were missing 2 starting centre-backs, which is why they believed they had already won), and effective in attack thanks to monstrous individuals, like Savicevic. So Capello's was a strong Milan, but what Sacchi had was a Milan that at club level can only be faced by Guardiola's Barcelona and the penultimate Real Madrid, the Dutch in attack, (twice in a row all 3 in the top 3 places in the Ballon d'Or rankings, a monstrous defense with the strongest defender in history, that is Baresi. Since you have Maldini, Baresi, Costacurta and taxotti in defense with Gullit and Van Basten in attack , with Donadoni in midfield, (a player who few people remember today but who was a monster), Ancellotti, Colombo and Rijkard. These with the addition of a revolutionary and incredible game system, and this is the difference between Milan and Barcelona with Real Madrid, I said, Real didn't have a game like those 2 teams...

La cosa che rende queste imprese ancora piu' grandi e' che sono state fatte contro squadre leggendarie e fortissime come del resto il Real 89 che in semifinale ne prese cinque a San Siro ! Apoteosi totale e schiacciante lezione di calcio.
