having played both, the main difference is that in ETS you have maybe a few hours leeway on your delivery schedule, whereas in ATS you get a day and a half... In ETS, dispatchers always want it delivered last week, in ATS sometime next month seems to be OK.

@@leecarrington1932 Yeah, TS should lean more into the time management side of trucking. It feels like you're on a casual sunday drive sighseeing and not on work. The Hard Truck series, although more of an open world racing game series than a straight up simulator, spiced things up with strict time limits and delivery competitions with other truckers.
@Winchester1979
@Winchester1979 Жыл бұрын
IIRC both ATS and ETS2 uses the same formula to calculate how long the delivery should take, which is an average of 60 kph/40 mph. Given that some states allow you to go almost twice that fast on the interstates, you'll never be in danger of being late unless you drive like a grandma in ATS, or on specific delivery routes (across the mountains between Nevada and Colorado for example). In ETS2, it's a bit easier to be late, since you can actually be forced to use roads where you can't go faster than the calculated average. (Germany has a speed limit of 60 kph if you're in a truck off the highways.
@daniellxnder
@daniellxnder Жыл бұрын
@@Winchester1979 Great technical explanation! Yeah I rarely has to go under 40 mph in ATS except when driving in cities so it makes sense now how I frequently end up with like 6+ hours of time left compared to ETS' ~1 hour especially if there's a detour!

I agree with you. Same with me, although I have a bit less "millage" than you do :D My total real life hours are around 1k total for both games. I really enjoy them both though. Depends on the mood maybe. I would say that parking is a bit more challenging in ATS though with the bigger trailers and longer wheelbases + tighter loading yards in some places. So I slightly prefer the bigger challenge that ATS gives me in that respect, plus I've always had a soft spot for long hood conventional trucks such as Pete 389 which is my favorite! Take care and have a pleasant journey in game and in real life!

For me the main 2 differences that I noticed are roads and steering In ATS youre basically only driving on highways with the occasional chicane or city (which can get boring fast due to the fact that half the map is forests or desert) and thats coming from someone who has all map dlc's + Promods Canada In ETS outside of western Europe driving is pretty involving and interesting (+Europe just has more interesting scenery in general although ATS also has it's moments) And steering European trucks just steer better in general and I can take turns super easy while in ATS while it's not a big enough difference to be a problem its still there Regardless I love them both and play them greatly!

@computer_toucher
@computer_toucher 3 ай бұрын
No, you're not REQUIRED to stay in the right lane. It's just that most highways have 100-120 Km/h speed limits, and you're not allowed to go faster than 80 or 90, depending on the country. You are allowed to overtake in the left lane, it's just that you're not allowed to hinder traffic by being too slow either - which is why you /mostly/ stay to the right. If you've ever driven on the Autobahn or other places in Europe, you've experienced the annoyance of the semi that's overtaking another by going 2 Km/h faster than the one on the right lol.

In ETS2 I have a modded 1200hp Longline Scania and whenever I could, I'd drive the thing flat out. In ATS I have a modded 1200hp Freightliner Cascadia extended sleeper and a modded 1200hp Kenworth W900 extended sleeper and whenever I could, I'd drive the things flat out.

To be fair I've always been better at driving in ATS. I've been playing both games since they came out (ETS2 Ivedo days lmao) and ATS is just more enjoyable for me. It's peaceful , quiet , relaxing and the trucks sound grear , KW 900W the most. I only wish I had time to play it more often.

1:45 I get it's a parody, but I gotta call you out here. You rolled right through and barely slowed down, which would be a traffic offense IRL as well. But the clip where it didn't give you a violation, you had slowed down to a near stop, so the game didn't count it as an offense.

1:46 you need to come to a full stop before proceeding into the junction. You made a "rolling stop" both times, so you got randomly fined once, just like running a red light in ETS2. Now, in real life, cops will usually not fine you, certainly not when you drive an 18-wheeler and the junction was clear, but, technically, they could and you know the game is zero tolerance when it comes to fines. 6:08 don't go completely into the turn lane and take a wider swing... extra points if you can knock over the white on blue arrow in the centre with the trailer's headboard. (Yes, I'm such a child* 😁). I think in most cases the ETS player is the same person as the ATS player, so, unless we all have split personalities, I think it's futile to look for differences or stereotypes. (*): That said, in real life, I think I'd be sorely tempted to "tweak" inconveniently placed road furniture, just to make a point.

For the first one, you don't get a fine or not stopping. The fine was about him not turning as tight or as soon as the game wanted.
