Herndon is a town in Fairfax County, Virginia, in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area of the United States. The population was 23,292 at the 2010 census. In 2020, the population was estimated to be 24,532, which makes it the largest of three incorporated towns in the county.
The actual dimensions of the town of Herndon are fairly small. However, the United States Post Office treats nearby unincorporated communities in northwestern Fairfax County as part of a Greater Herndon region, including Dranesville, Floris, Franklin Farm, McNair, and Oak Hill. OK so I grew up in herndon from 83 to 02. I enjoyed this thank you. I have so many stories to tell but I ll share 2 of them. 1st around 88ish when going down Monroe Street before you get to the shopping center there was a field next to a farm house. That was Mr Haynes house. He had 2 steam tractors and I was around 4 I got to ride in one and pull the whistle cord. Our friends all the way on Barker Hill heard the whistle. My dad was fairfax fire so they use to keep the old parade truck a 1963 open cab ladder truck so we use to ride in the homecoming parade in the firetruck. I got more stories but thought I'd share those two. Thanks for the post.

I believe that was the area of Haynes Paving Company on the other side of the farm house you’re referencing. The road that goes past the field and house is Jefferson St. It’s been redeveloped with new homes on either side of the farmhouse.

Herndon is a great town. Lived in nearby Reston 30 years ago and would go to Herndon for restaurants and shopping, then worked in Herndon on two occasions later. The drive was lovely, but since most of the shopping areas are set back from Eldon, we can't see much of them. There are all the usual chains, of course, but also many mom&pop and local chain restaurants. You passed Jimmy's Old Town Tavern three times, so I hope you stopped for a meal there! And you drove past the caboose along the W&OD trail (former rail line turned trail.)

I used to live I was raised in Virginia. We used to live on Sugarland states Sugarland Road and my father built a house out there and I went to her at high schoolers, middle school elementary school and Hage really build up since the last time was there I used to go to used to get in trouble I have to go to courthouse. I rode my tractor down to Main Street and they arrested me. They all stole it from the tractor company but it was my father was mowing grass so I used to go to theBurger hall. I love her expensive too way too expensive anymore.

Herndon, Virginia is definitely accessible from the new 66 Outside the Beltway Express Lanes when they fully open in December. There is an early opening of the western portion of the 66 Outside the Beltway Express Lanes until Route 28 in September. This should mean the first new permanent auxiliary lane would open as well for 66 East regular lanes traffic to access Virginia Route 28 North. This also should mean the 66 East Express Lanes traffic can exit to Virginia Route 28 North.
