what an ensemble of players. each was virtuosic in their discipline. what foresight miles had to pull these men together. The ESP to Miles in the Sky period is unrivaled among the great jazz ensembles that have ever existed.

Boy oh boy>>> You can't say too much about Miles and the guys. This was the beginning of the greatest music of the 20th century. The world was blessed by this music and batch of players.

Next to Coltrane's classic quartet this quintet is perhaps the best ever ensemble in music PERIOD

Agree and would add Ornette's quartet from '59/'60 with Don Cherry, Ed Blackwell and Charlie Haden.

Wrong! Knowledgeable musicians know that the first Miles Davis quintet from 1956 was/is the high water mark of masterful, soulful, elegant modern music wherein the beauty and magic arose from the group chemistry

I love miles music, he's always had excellent piano men, but my favorites were Wymton Kelly, and Bill Evan's, but Kelly was my favorite. Shame he died so young.

If you had ever talked to his daughter or his brother Vernon as I had you would probably be wondering who among them would have inspired you the most they are and were a very wonderful family

Shameful no mention of George Coleman

I know. Did Tony make the video?
@EricBaileyDrums4 жыл бұрын
@@ViziaFilms you're right. George was older and loved bebop. he didn't like the new thing they were going for at all. Miles thought he was good foil but eventually Tony got his way and of course the rest is history. Wayne's tunes and that era of the band is some of my favorite music ever. but George made history with that band also!

👍Okay, sure he can play & the music sounds good but that’s it. 🤔The only reason why I’m watching these videos is because I’m trying to see what Cicely Tyson (and any woman) saw in him. I just don’t see anything appealing about him. 🤨 To each their own. 🤷🏻♀️

Miles was the definitive musical artist of the 20th century. Not only was a musical icon but was a fashion plate from the 50s thru the time of his passing. He also didn't take any bs from white folks and refused too put up with there mess. Mrs. Tyson also was very serious about her craft and was a straight shooter like Miles!!!

It's quite a "scientifique Art"... How can they play exactly the same thing in the same time, catching their line in the fin air, in a quasi arithmetic tempo... without putting/reading the notes on scores together, first. It was an era. Those who keep up such art ARE really great Artists.
