The Otaku Dragon Slayer Cody is considered one of the strongest street fighters in terms of raw power and the only person to actually use Street Fighting as a fighting style. Before 5, he was one of 3 people that actually handicapped themselves when fighting to limit how they could fight (via his handcuffs limiting his range of movement. The other two that handicapped themselves were Akuma holding back the full Satsui no Hado and Oro tying one arm behind his back). In the comics, with his handcuffs on, he destroyed Ryu without even trying and stated he is so used to fighting whole groups of people he almost forgot to hold himself back fighting one and one and would have taken his slot in the Street Fighter 2 Tournament if Ryu didn't essentially Sagat him by sucker punching him using the Satsui no Hado. Chun-Li herself looked up to Cody as one of the inspirations for becoming an officer and wanting to change things and she was supposed to originally be his rival in Super Street Fighter IV before they changed it to Guy. The only person who made Cody feel something while fighting is Oni, which shows just how powerful he is if Oni at full power is someone that Cody considers a 'real fight'. So yeah, his story encompasses a lot of the SF Lore and it shows exactly just how powerful he is, especially when Bison of all people has a healthy dose of respect for Cody, even if he dissed him right after saying that. (SF Alpha 3).

@Alex McNeill I agree the arcade endings are great, though I do find it weird that in his SFA3 ending focus is put on him helping Guy beat M. Bison even though that is most likely not canon, while the SFIV one has the focus put on Guy trying to get Cody out of his funk without the mention of Cody beating a "great evil" despite it most likely being canon that Cody did fight Seth or one of his doubles. (the playable Seth is number 15 and if I remember right there are 26 in total) Though I guess they were trying to stay faithful to the original endings instead of clearing up the continuity. Poison does have a interest in him but Cody doesn't like her and constantly refuses her offers to join her in both FFR and SFIV. FFR is also canon but the events of Streetwise have been removed. (Only Cody's last name and him having a brother was kept) I hope Guy becomes a later DLC fighter, the opportunity for him to interact with mayor Cody and his master is too good to pass up.
