The glacius one was LITERALLY the first time I ever saw an ultra, KI 2013 was my introduction to playing fighting games and not just simply mash buttons, and OH BOI it definitely cought me off guard. The way he pushes you away and then pull you again with his icecle thing it just blew my mind for me still is a 10/10...

I love how the background from the stages starts going insane and goes into chaos when you do an Ultra Combo

I miss playing this game. Watching Max play when this came out made me want to learn fighting games. I had the pleasure of playing Max with my TJ Combo when he did a week of Omen.

KI ‘13 did such a good job at making every hit feel so impactful, ESPECIALLY when you play as someone like Aganos or TJ I hope to see a new game soon, hearing the announcer screaming “UUUULLLTTRAAAAAAAAAAAA” at the end too is just a cherry on top of it all I miss KI, bring it back again pls

TJ's is the best in the game, the constantly rising part is so funny and after the last hit it still does an awesome musical flourish. Both those things make it incredibly unique too.

All these years of me watching KI but having the disadvantage of never owning the game...I never realized each character on their stage has the own rhythm music wise when doing their Ultra had a special type of sauce to it!!! This is an amazing game in very own way! Killer Instinct should never die

Man, i'll never forget my friend getting me into KI back in like 2014. We played together ALL THE TIME for a good year or so. I'll never forget the first time i pulled off Glacius' Ultra first vs my friend and then vs another player online! KI was my favorite fighting game and i have had a hard time capturing the ease/fulfillment ratio that game gave me.

Aganos definitely was such a unique character. It was one thing to make a giant “FU” character that seemingly changes how to fight your opponent, but everything about his kit was just so wonderful. That and the ultra was great too right down to the elbow drop.

Rate the clay fighters 63 and a half I think. They have super combos that are whack 💪

I just noticed that in Kim wu's stage the bike before it gets hit by the truck it immediately turns at the screen like looking at you and saying "OH NOO".

Gosh, I only played the KI from the Super Nintendo but I loved that, never played the newer games... I'm loving discovering all these new things they put it in.

They're all 10 out of 10 to me but Aganos is def my favorite with that 3rd push against that boulder he flicks you with his finger then finish goes to the top rope with the damnnedest elbow drop *In Jim Ross's Voice*

Kan Ra might not have the best Ultra, but damn is his stage my favorite to hear Ultra Combos on. Those orchestra hits really do it for me.

I will never forget the time when Maximilian was Miles923, KI was showcasing their game at E3. When A video was showing Thunder vs Glacius (i think) at Thunder's stage, when Thunder was about to start his ultra, every time he hits, it makes a rhythm beat. And when its over, at the right moment, at the right time, the announcer screamed 'ULTRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' THAT BLEW ME AWAY! Knowing that KI has improved and returned! Love that video man! :.)

Max, you know you could actually super speed and slow mo ultra combos in KI2, there were specific commands to pull it off as a sort of flashy pop off, especially for normal combos too. It's pretty brutal hitting a 5th ender combo in super slo mo lol

Killer Instinct already did that wit the control of the speed on the ultra.. if you hold the button down instead of pushing it at the end .. for example if you hold High Punch and release it will speed up the ultra and if you perform a different movement on the Joystick it will slow the ultra down .. example instead of Back Forward you can do a Forward Back Forward it will slow down the ultra ..

There’s always gonna be a place for KI 1 & 2, but there’s no denying the musical ultras elevate this game to another level

The sound design in this game is outstanding.

Regarding the speed of KI3's ultras, I think a good compromise would be for KI4 to have a "custom ultra" finisher. It would have the same requirements and payoff of a regular ultra, but it basically activates a V-ism style custom combo. That way you can get the mad style if you're good enough, at the risk of making you look foolish if you drop it.

For me, the 10/10’s are thunder(cause freaking lighting!!) Sabrewulf(both cause he’s one of my mains and it fits his savagery), aganos(he’s so massive he flicks you at one point) and tusk(a beat down with a massive sword).

Anyone else want Max to rate the supers of games he wouldn’t normally play, just to see him have to play? Obviously this would just be for a one off thing like the central fiction videos but it’d still be fun. Me personally I’d like to see a rate the super on arcana heart 3 since there’s like 70 supers that could work and I can see Max having some funny commentary with the game. Can’t wait to see your opinions, it’s always fun to read them.

100% agree that I miss the speed (and hit sounds instead of notes) of the old KI’s..particularly KI1. If they do make a new KI I really hope they go back to that at least somewhat. Like you said Max maybe they can meet somewhere in the middle.

The one thing for Sadira's ultra is that in one of the updates, she lost the scream sound as she draws the player in at the end if the ultra.
