Whether the "true saviour" is Ryu or Luke (or Alex) depends on whether Capcom thinks the fanbase would accept it being someone who hasn't been the poster child of the franchise since the late 80s.

I thought Oro was talking about Ryu, but now that you're mentioning it, Luke does seem to be the one he's talking about. Though Ryu did get rid of the Dark Hadou in SFV, knowing Capcom, it might be Ryu. Since he's the face of Street Fighter.

I've always seen Street Fighter Five as a prequel to Street Fighter Third Strike. Here we see Ryu and Ken, but Sean isn't fighting in the Hado style yet, and in the story, he's seemingly younger than the other games he's been in. Here we see Kolin working with Urien before she betrays him to work for Gill. We see Gill rise to power in SFV after Bison's been defeated and Shadaloo is no longer the 'main threat'. G reveals himself as someone with 'true strength' searching for strong fighters to challenge his power given to him directly by the planet. Rose has dark premonitions about G and the future of the world, somehow connecting him to the apocalypse. I think Luke is a red herring here, and G is going to be the 'main protagonist' of Street Fighter 6's story. He'll be the 'one pure of heart and mind, who has achieved true strength', and he'll have to sacrifice all that power, the Power of Gaia, to save the world itself. It'll leave him as a husk of what he once was, an abomination. He'll start melting away and his mind will devolve into a sort of madness. He'll become Q, and he'll still be wandering, seeking strong fighters to test his strength, even though it's no longer there. SF1, SF2, SF 4, SF5, SF6, SF3, that's the order of Street Fighter's story.

Ok, but what if they completely swerve us and go a whole other route with this. What if it’s Sakura. In her story, she talks to Ryu about having a family and saying it’s a type of strength. She’s both pure of heart and pure of mind, she has never been (canonically) corrupted.

It would be cool if for SF6 they mde Ryu more of a Gouken style character. I know they won't since he is THE shoto and has to remain a basic starter character, but they could include old ryu as an alt like Kage?

I'd be totally down with having Luke being the presumed hero of the future if they write him in a way that makes sense. A young and untamed soul, but still pure of untainted influences. Heck, they can build off the one line his trailer started with as being inspired by Ryu's performance in previous SF tournaments and if we believe any of it, the basis of how Capt. Commando started.

It would be hilarious if the person with a pure soul, seeking strength for its own sake... was actually Akuma. He doesn't fight for money, he doesn't fight for world domination, and neither does he fight for justice or any noble cause. He simply seeks to perfect his strength. In a sense, his soul is very pure. Clearly he is the hero humankind needs to face the upcoming crisis. Oh, and the crisis is probably G becoming a monster due to Bison's lingering influence. Turns out G actually really is the representative of the world, in that he is sort of a manifestation of the collective will of mankind, which gets distorted by Bison's ghost powers corrupting people worldwide or so.

Remember sfv comes before sf3 and in sf3's story for oro he takes Ryu on as an apprentice.
